I didn't mean to suggest that public access would be completely restricted, just that logistically public access would be limited - can anybody imagine London Eye type crowds mingling around on Fenchurch Street trying to get in!?
Incidentally I wonder how access would work: Pre-booked tickets perhaps - Does anyone know? P.s. If it ever does get built I'd definitely like to go up (but if they found out what I'd been saying I'm sure I'd be barred at the entrance). |

You might get a surge of people in the beginning, the City is still a bit out of the way for most and the shard will certainly take the glamour. 1 Poultry has a nice public roof space and its never exactly heaving with people, there are plenty of great little spaces in the City that are often desserted. It is quite possible that this could become a niche space.

Thanks for that darrense14. Very interesting article.
Not sure what to make of it though as it all sounds a little too good to be (completely) true. Also, I know what you mean about The City being off the beaten track potto but (if ever built) 20FS and it's Skygarden are surely going to get an immense amount of attention - even if there is only an initial "surge of people" it's gonna be massive - isn't it? No doubt tourist guide books are going to include it, City workers will be nipping up at lunch - and then there's the thousands of rabid SSCers! How will they cope!? ;0) Last edited by Nightjar; September 4th, 2009 at 11:28 AM. |

the londonpaper isn't quite the most reliable journalistic rag and Murdoch is about to shut it down anyhoo......
can't fault the sentiment though. It would be a wonderful outdoor space and insanely popular I suspect. |

Do you think as the London Paper winds down we'll see stories like "122LH to be built - IN KENSINGTON!" ???
P.s. I'll miss The London Paper's absurdly difficult GK crossword. |

I read a couple of weeks ago in the one of the London news papers (can't remember which but it could be the one we've been talking about
) that 20FS is on hold at the moment - i've looked back through the posts here and can't find anything to say if it is or not. Maybe i'm missing something somewhere (which is very possible), can anyone enlighten me?????

It's on hold until Land Securities want to build it.

5 years? Or is 7 now? Either way I don't see why they wouldn't get it again if they have to.
