Why? Panama City also has a project of artificial islands, the Cinta Costera (water front) you see in the picture, which is an artificial filling was performed at sea, I have heard that Miami had done the same.
I do not see anything crazy about that.

Honolulu? no! Panama City? DEFINITELY!!!

Just thought I'd throw in a more recent pic for comparison, as in this weekend!

It's funny sometimes people go like all those 3 pictures are the same city.

Haha, like DJ88 says, it's crazy in a positive sense.

Miami and Panama City will never be able to match the magnificent height of Honolulu's waves.

I thought you were about to say "Miami and Panama City will never be able to match the magnificent height of Honolulu's building's."

Miami has taller buildings, but I'm afraid Honolulu has us beat in the "Weird Monuments to Dead Television Stars" category. This awe-inspiring bust of the late Jack Lord of "Hawaii Five-O" fame graces a local mall. I'm told millions have made the pilgrimage to this holiest of sites and they report a 'healing power' emanating from it...

Fear not, though. Esther Rolle ("Good Times") was born in South Florida and I am gathering names to petition local authorities to erect a suitable, tasteful monument. I'm thinking a 300-foot statue straddling Biscayne Blvd. would work. Take THAT Honolulu!

I think that would nicely compliment the 800 foot Terry Savalas over Government Cut.

Absolutely...we could even position them so that they are forever gazing at each other across the bay.

And just so people understand that I am serious about the 'tasteful' aspect, I am proposing that both the Telly Savalas and Esther Rolle Monuments have undergarments (despite the added cost) to prevent unseemly views---and accidents---when passing underneath. You may think this is overkill in the Savalas case (i.e. he was usually seen in pants) but I'm thinking a Roman Toga would be appropriate attire.

I never thought of Savalas facing West instead of East, but I like it! It's like he's saying Who Loves Ya Baby to Miami and not stupid Andros Island.

I like the way you think. Savalas' backside can still be a beacon to ships (he'll be floodlit at night and equipped with a booming foghorn) but no reason he should be bestowing his greetings towards Andros.

Gary Coleman once visited the Bahamas---they can build their own damn celebrity statue. Savalas shall gaze towards Miami.

I think Miami and Honolulu are very similar in nature except for the mountains, and how spread out the buildings are....

I think Honolulu is more similar to San Juan PR, Miami has a lot more skyscrapers and tall Honolulu.

Miami has taller buildings, yes, but as far as the number of "skyscrapers" I would say Honolulu has more at the moment, but as we all know, Miami is definitely going to grow over the next 20 years and probably match Honolulu, unless of course Honolulu keeps building as well. If you include Miami Beach, there's definitely more right now. That's why I never like these comparison threads, they always end up turning into "my city is better than yours" type comments.

It all depends on what you call skyscrapers. Honolulu is very dense, yes. But Miami has more buildings that I would consider skyscrapers. Vancouver has a nice skyline in a spectacular setting, but it's way too short for me. I'm not going to get into the numbers because I've done that enough times on these websites, and as far as I've been able to ascertain, I have not read any "my city is better than yours"-type comments. People often just state their opinion on here without much basis for it other than that is what they want to believe, and outside of cold, hard statistics and how you skew the numbers, this is all a matter of personal taste anyway. No city is better than another. They are just all different from each other, and I consider Miami to be more like Panama City than Honolulu.

My sentiments exactly, I feel that everyone has a personal taste, mine of course will always boast Miami as the king of the south at least!

Of course people in Atlanta and Houston will disagree with you because they have taller buildings, but as you said yourself, we ain't done yet. I didn't think Panama City and Miami looked that much alike until somebody brought it to my attention on another website with that very same picture above.

Yes but those people don't have a good view of girls in Bikinis from their office towers every day. I repeat EVERY DAY.

You mean sunning themselves on so many high balconies and putting on a show?
