My remark was an attempt to end the debate, but you won't let it go. I'm right (innocent) until proven wrong (guilty). If you - or anyone for that matter - show me that thumbnail in a discernible size which proves it's not Panama City, I will not only admit I'm wrong, I'll bown down to your highness.

Why on Earth would he be using a picture of Panama City? The two cities may be similar in appearance, but I think it's a safe bet that someone calling themselves "Miami305" would likely use a photo of, y'know, Miami in their avatar.

I took that pic from the Rickenbacker Causeway heading to Key Biscayne (Miami) from Virginia Key (Miami Seaquarium)...it is of Miami, Florida USA.....I have never been to Panama City, Panama in my life and yeah, why would I want to use a pic of Panama City..for my own avatar? . Now with that said....can we just drop the debate...

You might have noticed though that a couple of posts referencing Hugo Chavez were deleted. That was not by me. That was by somebody who out ranks me on the moderating staff. At present, my jurisdiction is only the Miami forum.

Has he said that Hugo Chavez is the liberator of South America of the Oil imperium- cartell, or that Hugo Chavez is the best democrat North and South America can Offer, or that Hugo Chavez is protecting the poor from the robbers of the illuminatie-sect? Well if it must have been more dramatic than that, please let me know... The Only City Miami is culturally comparable to is Baranquilla in Colombia.

i have lived about 10 years in both Miami and Honolulu and also visited Panama City many times... and if you strip the mountains from Honolulu it definitely has more of a Miami feel than Panama.... specially in the Waikiki area by the Ala Wai canal because it clearly resembles Miami Beach with Indian Creek canal running through.

Nice pics JuanPaulo. Isn't there a 500' cap on all highrises in Honolulu?

I think the limit is actually 415' to top of architectural feature/ornament. There are also height limits to the top of the roof... I think it is 400' and from there you can add the additional 15' for the architectural top like crowns, pinnacles, etc. (as long as it does not have and roof to create and enclosed space). The only building that was ever granted an exception to these height limits is the First Hawaiian Center (the tallest in the last pic) in downtown @ 430' to the top of architectural parapet.

Honolulu should revamp it's skyline. It really dosen't fit well with the natural background.

I did a double take when walking past the news stand this morning. At first glance I thought a picture of Sunny Isles was on the front page of USA Today, but it was actually Vietnam.

Panama City is great.....it was my 2nd choice...after Costa Rica..!
I still might end up there someday. The only problem is that there are no direct flights from PC to Havana....! |
