Skyscrapers of Vienna

The main focus of this excursion is Vienna's highrise district - Donaucity.
Instead of the standard tourist shots, I tried to capture some of the lesser known angles.

I also explored parts of the adjacent Kaisermühlen neighborhood, a typical working class area. Though I wonder how much it still lives up to its cliche, nowadays.

The approach on bicycle:

Crossing the Danube in the early morning light I catch the first glimpse of Vienna's Donaucity:

Today's first tower is Floridotower, a few miles north of the main highrise cluster:

All the while I had this little companion follow me around.
5.

Donauturm, an observation tower, is the first sign that we're approaching Donaucity, the main highrise district:

Now we've arrived at Donaucity, but I still kept my distance and took some shots from the sourrounding residential areas and parks:

Let's explore adjacent Kaisermühlen, a very small neighborhood bordering Donaucity. From luxury condos to public housing, historic facades to bland commieblocks, idyllic lakes and beaches to busy urban expressways, it's all there. Even St Louis' Webster University has a campus right in the heart of the neiborhood.

Vienna is a pretty beautiful city, and it's got really great skyscrapers as well. Btw, how's the weather like there in summer?

Now that's pretty warm, thought Vienna's weather was like Berlin's in summer.

Vienna has a typical continental climate. Like Budapest for example.

Freezing in winter, hot in summer...

More skyscrapers, if I may contribute to this thread:

Good job. Too bad that the skyscrapers seem not well connected to the older and touristy area.

yes, they are kind of apart.
But there is no space in the city center.
