A Guide to the threads here
Melbourne & Victorian Threads:
The links point to the first posting in the thread, and if there is a member cited, it is on the basis of the first posting. Usually this has been a photo collection, but in some cases it has been just a request for information. I've only included those that are geographically quite specific, and excluded current construction projects and photographic "ambles" (my visit to Melbourne, fog in the city, New Year fireworks etc.) By and large, I've left out Docklands and Soutbank because, essentially I had enough work already (by my count there's 139 links below). I've also excluded skyline shots , general panoramas, and so on. Apologies to anyone who feels left out: let me know. I've only cited the name of the member who started the thread where it was necessary in order to identify similarly named threads. The Collector in particular did most of the CBD street threads, and Bronteboy and Olderfleet did significant sets of suburban threads. Many others have also contributed magnificently. In general, threads for the same "topic" are listed most-recent first. "Older" implies a previous thread by the same author. I organized the city street groups in an obvious manner, and made an attempt to alphabetize the suburban and regional threads. That doesn't mean there's nothing left looking at in the thread, since later entries may contain content of one sort or another. Example: I have Ballarat photos here, but haven't started a Ballarat thread. Please PM me if you start a thread that you think should be included here: I may not notice it! 18/08/2009: Some links to threads have deleted after consultation with contributors, & some links added. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Melbourne CBD: Hoddle's Original Survey of Melbourne The East-west streets (from south to north): Flinders St: by The Collector ; by Yardmaster Collins St: by The Collector ; By Yardmaster ; By uewepupe ; 1964, by Grollo Bourke St: by The Collector ; Lonsdale St. ; Latrobe St. ; The North-South Streets: (from east to west) (all by The Collector as of 06/07/2009) Spring St. ; (historic) ; by Yardmaster Exhibition St. (no threads) Russell St. Swanston St. Elizibeth St. Queen St. William St. King St. Spencer St. (no threads) Little Streets, Lanes & Arcades: By Collector Flinders Lane (Bronteboy) ; Lanes & Arcades ; Lanes (uewepupe) ; (Alibaba) See Also: Historic larger streets (b&w) ; Vintage Melbourne in b&w ; Melbourne Art Deco (Alibaba) ; Chinatown (uewepupe) Historic and Public Buildings: Royal Exhibition Buildings Shrine of Remembrance ; by neuralabyss State Library State Library / Parliament House Parliament House Spencer St Station (historic) Southern Cross Station Flinders St. Station (historic) Melbourne’s Museums Melbourne Gallery @ Museum (Kichigai) Federation Square Arts Precinct ; by Olderfleet Australian Centre of Contemporary Art Melbourne University ; (restoration works) Seaman’s Mission 333 Collins St. Collins Place Windsor Hotel Sydney Myer Music Bowl "Open House" Day 2009 Gardens & Open Spaces: Melbourne Cricket Ground ; By Fabian Birramung Marr Melbourne’s Gardens Botanic Gardens Albert Park Melbourne General Cemetery The Extended CBD: Southbank Docklands Further afield: The Suburbs Historic Buildings etc. Town Halls Historic Residences Ripponlea ; Stonnington ; Willsmere Heide Museum Harold Holt Pool Montsalvat Emulation Hall Grand Hotel Essendon Melbourne Suburbs: South Melbourne: by Kiwikaas ; by Tayser ; St. Kilda Rd. Thanks guys! Thread stickied.
I'll be deleting all unrelated posts and old discussion in this thread to keep it tidy, don't take it too personally or anything.
