I watched all of your pics and the first thing I can say is that Taipei is a lovely place. One of my favorites cities so far

They did it for metro construction, I am not an expert on metro construction methods, so I cannot tell you if it was possible to avoid it. Anyway in Taiwan climate trees grow very fast so few years after metro is finished the road should be full of greenery again.

I don't know who invented this kind of chair but interesting thing is that it is made of cardboard (from recycled materials) but its really strong and can sustain very heavy weights. It was real fun to play with that chair.

I think all East Asian countries/regions, in particular the developed ones (Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea) share certain key characteristics in terms of urban planning and cityscapes vis-ā-vis the rest of the world. Although, of course, all of them have unique features as well.


Anyway, this is certainly one of my favorite threads on this board!
