Fate of city buses running in Nellai and NGL are worst. Saw those dubba buses when i was there in NGL sometime back. TN govt should replace these dubba buses soon.

I was there in trichy 2-3 months back. Saw few TN32 registered buses. i think they were transferred from VPM in 2007/08. It was raining when i was there. We couldnt able to stand inside that bus. Its raining heavily inside the bus too.
The MD and other authorities in TNSTC-SLM are sleeping for a very long time now.
They will never wake up to do anything good.

No new routes in the city. No extra services in the city. Old Bus Stand is still the transit point for switch over. Even for 3-4 km, one needs to change 2-3 buses.

But this will never change.

Not only we forgot about TNSTC-SLM Mr.Dhandapani. Our honourable Transport Minister also forgot abt TNSTC-SLM for past 4.5 years .

Only one semi low floor vestibule bus with TN-58 registration(Thanks to Parliament election) is the new bus added to the city service in past 4.5 years. No other new buses for city routes and no more new routes as well.

Frnd,
what you are talking about?? AC buses for city bus routes in salem?? Our TN Govt didnt get the proposed AC buses from JNNURM for CBE and MDU.. then how come they will get AC buses for other cities.

Now a days they transfer fleets from other divisions left and right. I saw one moffusil bus from TNSTC-SLM with TN38 registration.

Among all our TNSTCs, TNSTC-Nellai can be considered as a museum. Because it has the fleets transferred from almost all TNSTC divisions.

Exactly few days back i saw TN-29 N-05XX series in nellai, bus was in a condition similar to that of the car in karagattakaran. If the bus hits some tree or any stationary object - sure the bus will collapse. It was similar to "NAY VANDI" in Chennai. I wondered whether the hosur branch will still be utilizing the same series- No way.

Dandapani sir before MDU bifurcation Virudhunagar depot was handling pairing services for MDU-Trichy fleet with most buses originating from Kovilpatti. Now what is the case. Furthermore Virudhunagar was handling Kovilpatti- Coimbatore/tirpur.Moreover two pairing services for Trichy- tiruchendur was operated by TN-58.Now what is the case.

TNSTC-CBE phased out TN37 registered long back. But TNSTC-MDU kept running few TN59 registered till last year.

Kumbakonam region got TN68 registration from last year only. It happened because Kumbakonam got separate RTO number from last year or so.
Incidentally TNSTC Villupuram had TN31 before it was changed to TN32 after the Villupuram RTO came into existence.

TNSTC-SLM will have all the dumb buses from other depot next to Nellai i guess. As far as i remember SLM buses has the following number.

TN-27
TN-39
TN-30
TN-32
TN-33
TN-38
TN-45
TN-54
TN-58

I'm sure the list will be extended. I can't remember the other Regd numbers. All most we have buses from all the regions from TNSTC.

TN39? Belongs to Tirupur. No bus from TNSTC-CBE is registered with TN39 till date. No Tirupur region exists. It is yet to be formed.
BTW do u mean TN29?

TN54? Belongs to Salem east. Salem region buses of TNSTC-SLM is registered under TN30.

Please check the facts before giving the data.

By Mistakenly I have typed TN-39 instead of TN-29.

I knew that 54 is for Salem east. As i was listing all the Regd numbers running under TNSTC-SLM i have included 30 and 54 as well(Which are for Salem).

Still buses with some other Regd numbers also running under TNSTC-SLM which i can't remember now. Will try to list in my next visit.

Can we see TN 72 in any other TNSTCs other than Nellai.
No chance I guess.
Worst among worst will be in Nellai only.

Offcourse Yes! New TN72 registered buses were given to DGL, MDU, VPM regions 1 or 2 yrs back.

Furthermore if you come down south and see the fate of buses here you won't raise such a question. For your reference TN-49 N-13XX series is modified from route bus to town buss and is operated on Tanjavur new bus stand - old bus stand. But the same series bus is operated from Valiyoor - Tenkasi(> distance between Tanjavur-Trichy ).
Hey Mr.Nellai, you are wrong - TN-45 N-19xx was in 2003-2004. Mr. Transport Minister took charge in 2006, TN-45 was in 24xx - and now in 30xx. The average per year is only about 125 that too for Trichy city plus 4 districts!!

Just because TN-72 and 74 are faring badly, it doesnt mean other cities should not complain. Every city (Trichy, Salem, Nellai, etc) should get better and newer fleet. Being 4th largest, Trichy deserves more and newer fleet.

Cheers,
Raj

Correct. Only new buses were exchanged between TNSTC Nellai and other regions. Ex. TN-45 N-2892 runs for Nellai whereas TN-72 N-1329 runs for Trichy. Similarly TN-72 N-1335 is in Villupuram (Vellore) whereas TN-32 N-3220 is in Nellai (Nagercoil).

Salem division TNSTC's are registered as

TN-29-N-XXXX Dharmapuri region / Salem div.

TN-27-N-1696 Salem region - only upto this serial number I guess, but sure not morethan 1700 and afterwards
TN-30-N-XXXX .

Otherthan this which you might have noticed are fleet transfer from other divisions which is common thing b/w the TNSTC's, this will be both old and new buses, but Villupuram region ( not division ) and Erode region alone dosen't come into this style of inter transfer of buses, particualrily not even a single old buses got transfered from any other regions or division.

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu state transport corporations are incurring loss to the tune of Rs 2,000 per bus per day, said transport minister K N Nehru in the assembly on Wednesday. There are 20,000 buses plying in the state, of which 3,000 are being operated in Chennai city alone. He went on to add that overall, the buses were causing a loss of Rs two crore loss per day to the exchequer.

Nehru was replying to AIADMK deputy leader O Paneerselvam's demand to reduce bus fare in the state. Detailing the economics of running corporation buses, he said unless a mofussil bus generates a collection of Rs 9,000 per day and a city bus generates Rs 6,000 per day, their plying would not be economical. However, in many routes the collection was abysmally low such that every day on an average each bus was incurring a loss of Rs 2,000.

While an ordinary bus costs Rs 10 lakh, a low-floor bus, funded under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission scheme, costs Rs 22 lakh. The transport corporations charge 28 paise per km for ordinary buses, 32 paise per km for low-floor ones, 52 paise per km for express buses, 80 paise per km for ultra-deluxe buses and Re 1 per km for air-conditioned buses, he said.

How does the government make up for this huge loss, which works out to more than Rs 700 crore per year? Nehru later told TOI, "We survive only on government funding. The state government gives Rs 250 crore per annum as students' subsidy and another Rs 250 crore as grant. The rest we manage through loans. It is difficult to manage, but there is no other alternative."

Transport officials said almost all the state-owned transport corporations in Tamil Nadu were incurring loss. "It is mainly due to increase in establishment costs including salary to employees. Hike in diesel cost plays a major role in increase in expenditure. We cannot sustain with the losses for ever with the government's subsidy. The government should increase the bus fare which is the only wayout,'' a senior official in the department said.

I completely disagree with it.
TNSTC VPM, KMU, SLM are running in profits only.
Moreover, MTC and TNSTC MDU and CBE city bus service just broke even in 2009 i suppose (correct me if i am wrong).

TNSTC VPM is one of the 11 of TN Govt Undertakings to run in profit.

Night time buses from PRTC.

PRTC is all set to introduce night time buses. 2 buses are to be inaugurated today. The function will take place at Pondy Railway Station. The buses will ply from 9:30 PM to 5:30 AM.
These buses will be covering areas like Bus stand, Railway station, GH, Ladies and Children Hospital, JIPMER, Lawspet, Villiyanur etc.

So, finally all the 26 JnNURM buses will be under use by PRTC. But no increase in revenue.
20 normal buses, which get loaded only during peak hours. Other times, there will be hardly more than 30 passengers in PRTC, while private buses go fully loaded all the times.
4 ladies special buses, which are slowly gaining popularity. You can find all the seats filled only during peak hours. Other times, the bus will go empty.
Now, 2 buses to be inaugurated as Night time buses.

They are doing all the things with which they don't get proper white money as revenue.

I accept your fact Every city (Trichy, Salem, Nellai, etc) should get better and newer fleet.See i was in trichy from 2005-2009 ,before nehru came i know what was the condition in trichy.Only after nehru came u got new buses for intracity. But when compared to other cities trichy is getting better services. For intracity the Govt introduced just 2 buses each for tvl, tutcorin and tenkasi (other than SLFs).I do know that trichy is catering the needs of karur, trichy, perambalur, ariyalur dist. But on the other hand for the whole tirunelveli and tutucrin dist u have only Tn-72 and compare the population for both these districts combined it ll be nearly 1.5 times bigger than the 4 districts combined. Because nearly 2 corporations(tvl, tutucorin), palyamkottai.tenkasi, valliyoor, sencottah, kadayanallur, sankarankovil, puliangudi, tiruchendur, kovilpatti, ambasamudram, cheranmahadevi, tisayanvillai all are bigger towns when compared to ariyalur, perambalur, manaparai, musiri, karur. You have routes for even thuvarankurichi-CBE, duariyur-nellai, jeiyankondan - CBE.
But we dont have routes even for foremost important cities. If u ask anybody in tamilnadu about jeyankondan, duraiyur ,thuvarankurichi - if they are nearby these towns they may be aware. But everyone in tamilnadu knows kanyakumari, but except for a few SETC route there is no TNSTC route connecting Kanyakumari to other cities.
