I believe the above tender is 2nd phase and also I guess amaiyar will inaugurate new buses before Tamil new year i.e April 13th i.e phase I body built buses.

Good to see II phase also released before budget. Hope in coming budget they concentrate on AC buses and provide big share for Chennai, since rest of the state has got majority from 3000 allotted last year.

This Phase II tender is for building bus bodies in Old and New chassis. For CBE its completely new bus bodies on new Chassis.

No Pattai namam for MTC and SETC. Still the original number holds good.

IMHO old UD's were far better. I will be happy if they face lift and maintain the same buses well. Also AC buses needs big face lift.

SETC will get all its 473 12M UD buses. Tender for building them is released in "New Bus Body Construction itself".

The recent tender has construction of bus bodies in both Old and new chassis. Old Chassis meaning refurbishment of buses.

Below is the split up which was given in the refurbishment tender.
VPM - 100(C),180(M)
SLM - 104(C), 148(M)
KUM - 202(C),41(M)
CBE - 159(C), 45(M)
MDU - 202(C), (6)
TNV - 78(C), 67(M)
SETC - 100(UD)
All together it is 1432 buses. For SETC, it also included 44 12Ms. It means we will not see 44 12M AC buses in future.
Read C->City and M as Moffussil.

We didnt have any split up detail in the New Bus Body building tender. They mentioned about 12M UD coaches. And all are for SETC. I guess MTC will build most of its new buses in their Chrompet Workshop itself.

I am still confused. what about the old tender posted by skumaran? It was only for retrofit? i.e bus building for old chasis or does it included new chasis too - 1432 bus

And if the new tender have 1487 chasis which includes both new and old chasis... I assume still all 3000 new chasis are not yet released for bus body construction.

And these details does not give exactly how many new chasis are ready out of 3000 bus which was announced in 2011-12 budget.

Both. Last year only AL chassis were procured. This time we will get TML and AshLey. Based on the numbers we can see majority of the TMLs in CBE and VPM divn buses.

Not all 3000 chassis were delivered. We are getting them in batch by batch.

SETC for sure will get allotted 12M UDs.

Following are the tenders that were released for body building
1. Separate tender for build UD Coaches for SETC.. 18-10-2011. Total 413 buses.
2. Bus Body building 20-01-2012. Total 1432 buses and these are in old chassis.
3. Bus body building(Recent one): Last date: 11-04-2012. In this they mentioned both old and new. I guess we might have very less old chassis in this. Total 1487. So atleast 1250 chassis should be new.

Everyday AL is sending buses in 20 batches for body building. SETC depot last week had 10 chasis of 12 m . They were sent for body building yesterday night. I think SETC share will be given to Irizar TVS already 3 buses has been delivered
