additions on existing buildings

Does anyone have some documents about construction works on some of this additions. I have to write a work abut adding storey on existing building and dont have any examples of that in my country. I will be greatfull if someone can help me. Greeting from Serbia!

At least they're not completely destroying the buildings. Still, I will agree some of these, especially in Washington D. C. and Eastern Europe, are terrible. Also, considering how many historical assets the former has, it's unnecessary to preserve so many low-profile buildings. A lot of the time however, is because of eminent domain issues.

Here is an example of stellar preservation:

Another nice one is the renovation and make over of the Schiecentrale (former power plant) in Rotterdam, altthough more next to it than on top:
