I think it is an early example of this kind of architecture in Russia...?

I guess it was inspired by the Wolkenbügel concept from the 1920s.
Maybe also inspired by it:

Kiev, Olympic Stadium, restaurant.

It's just amazing how they turned a rotting spooky looking building into something so spectacular without even changing the original design.

I guess it was inspired by the Wolkenbügel concept from the 1920s.

I hope one day an architect will decide to build this one too.
where is it ?

That building was the Medical Insurance Building as you can see here:

Opera House, Leipzig, Germany (1960)

The East Germans actually had some very nice Stalinist buildings in the 1950s.
Many examples I see haven't been left to rot and weren't altered with careless window replacements, unlike in other communist countries

I mean this one is in Rostock.
It's part of "Lange Strasse", interesting mix of regional style (Brick Gothic) and stalinist specifications.

Some Soviet buildings from Rīga, Latvia

An office building. Sadly, many windows have been replaced with ugly plastic ones.

A residential building on one of the only hilly (yes, we call that slope a hill) places in the otherwise flat city.

Tall and very beautiful residential buildings in the Imanta district.

The Great wall of China - the 340 m long building stands as a border between the city and the wild countryside. On the left it's a typical Soviet sleeping district while on the right it's nothing but wastelands. The building is so long that it even has a trolleybus stop named specifically after the buildings adress.

All pictures from photoriga.com and made by it's author Ikars Kublins

One of the best examples of Soviet modernism, the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences, built 1967, has been destroyed by fire.
