It's not representative for the rest of the system, though. Here are some other pics:

Beurs station, the only intersection between metro lines in the Netherlands:

Rijnhaven station:

This is the entrance to Blaak station; fairly modern, I'd say:

Rotterdam's system is quite modern, but given it's age that shouldn't be too surprising. The network is far better than Amsterdam's network, though, since it covers a lot more of the city and has more underground stations.

This big pedestrian tunnel in the first pics is Wilhelminaplein station. Very futuristic. When I was in Rotterdam I've took only the Erasmus Lijn from Beurs to Wilhelminaplein, and also only because I was too lazy to walk.

The first section dates from the 60s, but subsequent sections have been added in later decades.

Mind you: like Alargule said, these pics are not really representative for the whole network. Most of the stations are rather boring. Only since the 90s some spectacular designs have been added.

I`ve never visited Rotterdam, only Amsterdam. Its got one Metro line? I did only see 3 or 4 underground stations. Is there more?

The network seemed very used. The trains old and so on. I am sure that it could look much better if Amsterdam council wanted it to look better, as the tram service in Amsterdam is like ten times better than metro.

Also,.. where is the food stores in Amsterdam?

Amsterdam has four lines lines, although three of them bundle together in the city centre, and the other one is a ring line. A fifth line is being built at the moment, and there is a light rail line (IJlijn) that is shown on a lot of metro maps.
See http://www.urbanrail.net/eu/ams/amsterdm.htm

And yeah, the system is getting pretty old. It feels very American to me, with those aluminium-like trains.

Ahh. I took the line 24 I think. Sorry if I dont remember. I took it out to some new parts of Amsterdam! Very nice and very nice bridges on the way!

But yes, the Metro feels like American.

The IJtram is not shown on any metro map - although some 'future' maps were published which showed the line together with the North-Southline:

In the 1990's, there were still plans to build the IJtram as a full metro line. But when the city decided to size down the development area of IJburg which is connected to the city centre by means of the IJtram, the planned metro line was scrapped in favour of the present tram line. The IJtram is shown as line 26 on the tram maps in the new Combino trams, though.

And yes, the metro is getting old and dirty. I rode it today; I almost thought I'd travelled 20 years back in time to New York. The trains smell, the doors don't work and the stations look like shit. The rolling stock will be replaced, though - in 2012 all trains should be brand new. Too bad the ambitious Metromorphose-project, which saw to radically modernize the present stations on the oldest line, has never been carried out due to wrong cost calculations...

I will ask the moderators to turn this into a "Dutch subway topic". How 'bout that?

So, if any of the moderators would read this...
