a building in kaunas - need help!
i'm looking for images and information of the kaunas officers' casino building which was completed somewhere in the 1930's.
the competition was held in 1930 and won by great estonian architects herbert johanson and elmar lohk. the 2nd and 3rd place were awarded to estonians as well, to august volberg + erika nõva and aleksandr wladovsky accordingly. altogether 8 projects were submitted by estonians. absolutely ANY further information on the completed building and bits of knowledge is more than welcome!! (:

oh man, i'd never have expected it to be THAT easy!
that's the one, thanks a million, dompcz! (: "New palace was to be built, and the project sketch of Estonian architects Elmark Lohk and Herbert Johanson was announced the best. The palace itself was designed by the most famous architects of that time - Prof. Vladimiras Dubeneckis, Dr. Stasys Kudokas and engineer Jonas Kriščiukaitis; still, Dubeneckis died suddenly in 1932 and his work was continued by Dr. Kudokas. The construction of the palace was finished in 1937, and the solemn opening took place on April 23 of the same year." now all i need is to see that initial sketch by the estonians (:

To find the initial sketch by Estonians is not that easy though. Couldn't find it in google. They mention that "Photographs by Gintaras Česonis and from the Collection of KTU ASI Library". The floor plan is probably from a book from KTU ASI library. Maybe that book contains some pictures of Estonian sketch too? You could search maybe in some books about those architects? Don't have any other ideas at the moment.

no monographs have been published about those architects - something must be done about that!
