Madinat Jumeirah!

pictures by GO_UAE

The construction of the Madinat Jumeirah resort, located in Dubai, was begun in 2002 and is due to be finished in early 2004. The development is expected to cost $340 million. When completed, it will be operated by Jumeirah International. The resort will cover 40ha of land, featuring two five star hotels: Port Al. Salam and Al. Qasr. It will be located adjacent to Burj Al Arab and the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, stretching across 1km of the Jumeirah beach. Due to its close proximity to the three flagship hotels in Dubai, it should benefit from their worldwide recognition. It will be a fully themed complex, incorporating the history and culture of the region.

Resort features will include: various types of five star accomodation incorporating 940 rooms and suites, a fully equipped convention centre, a cultural village, the largest spa and fitness centre in the region and a tradional trading Souq as well as an extensive range of restuarants and dining facilities. The various aspects of the resort will be connected by 3km of waterways, offering fully operational abras (water taxis).

Madinat Jumeirah features two five star hotels: Port Al. Salam and Al. Qasr. Each hotel offers 300 rooms in addition to clusters of 340 rooms and suites in courtyard villas in the resort, offering authentic architecture reflecting the heritage and culture of the Arabian region.

Port Al. Salam is due to be completed by mid 2003. It is a multi-level hotel that includes public areas, restaurants, plantrooms and a 218-space basement car park. The design of the hotel is intended to reflect a Gulf Arab summer palace.

The hotels will be surrounded by 200,000m² of landscaped garden where the villas will be located in 31 separate blocks; each block will contain ten villas.

The views produced are amazing, but the actual look of the development itself isn't aesthetically appealing.

thats because its in construction right now, it will turn out much better when finished, just wait!
they are also trying to give the traditional look, notice the wind tower. maybe it wont be as great as burj al arab, but it will be different as a tradiotional and historic looking building.

There are great views of Madinat Jumeirah from the top floor of Burj al-Arab.

The style of the buildings actually belongs to the southern coast of Iran. There is no such thing as a wind tower in traditional Arabic architecture of the area.

really! is that iranian style
i thought it was arabian style
one of my persian friend also told me that, he gets very angry when i call persians as conected to arabs, afterall they come in the arab category.
most of uae arabs are actualy old persians who came and settled in the country.

The rendering of the building looks awsome. Not too tall for how long the building is and the style of the buiding fits nice to my tastes. Nice view of Burj Al Arab. Two five star hotels...that's quite a number!

Nice photos of it under construction!
