acc521 In Brussels: 18 May 2009

Only spent half a day in Brussels but I wouldn't mind going back sometime. It was a pretty decent city I thought, with great beer and chocolate and a very gritty vibe. It was strange in that it feels kind of like France, but quite different at the same time - certainly a city that shares influences with its neighbours.

Wow! Great pics that show us the beauty and sometimes the ugliness of Brussels.
Fantatstic city anyway.

And yes, Brussels is well worth a longer visit... much longer.

Another great collection. It's true that Belgium cities are rather gritty in places. It must be the French influence.

Fantastic pictures! Looks like you were in luck with the weather as well :-)
A lot of people think is just EU bureaucracy when there's much more too see

Great picture, but I can't immediately place it, where was it taken?

Yes it is. The whole square was abandoned for decades. But it's completely renovated in recent years. Some buildings are the seats of Flemish ministers, like the Flemish Prime Minister.

Superb pictures - what an attractive city! Those old buildings along the main square, the city hall invlcusive, are fantastic - such ornate features. The narrow streets and shopping arcade are nice as well. Thanks.
