I don't think Montreal is any "boxier" than any other city. In every city there is a pretty good mix of shapes of buildings, both old and new.
I'd say it is my number 2 favourite in Canada.

I've always liked 1501 McGill College.

As a woman, I somehow tend to like/love Toronto's skyline, then Calgary, and as last one Montréal.

Ottawa and Vancouver fall in a total different categorie as far as I am concerned. Ottawa has these imperial historic buildings all located beautifully along a lush green river bed and benefits the sheer beauty of Gatineau county/park, while Vancouver only enjoys the sheer dazzling beauty of both the Pacific and the Mountains and the close vicinity to Alaska which makes it an ideal place to live for many but skyscraper-wise it can not speak of a real skyline. Each time I look at it, although I like the city a lot and would love to live in it, yet I miss something.
It can not satisfy me somehow, this in contrast with Toronto with its unique business district, stylish, sexy, glamorious and overwhelmingly beautiful.

My choice will be Toronto. I don't need to get bored even doing nothing that special and just wandering around the city and looking up!

01 Toronto (needs more filling out along the lake shore and between Yorkville and the CBD)
02 Vancouver (far too many glass condos, and needs taller buildings)
03 Montreal (has everything except height)
04 Calgary (needs better density and better architecture, the Bow will raise the bar)
05 Winnipeg (lacking in height and scale)

06 Hamilton (lacking in height and scale)
07 Niagara Falls (surprisingly good)
08 Ottawa (nice compact downtown, capital should have better post war architecture)
09 North York (decent, but not very sophisticated)
10 Mississauga (tacky and banal, but improving)

I know, I was just joking, I 'd love to see one right infront of CN Tower!

the question then remains: Do I have to lay down tanning towards the lake or the other way around? cause I also want to look at the skyline! LOL
