I seem to love the plans for Abu Dhabi more and more as I come across them, I mean look at Yas Isand, Spectacular. This palace looks amazing, I guess Emirates Palace and elsewhere was not enough!

Honestly, I don't know what to say....what can you say?

And I can't believe this is already under construction without us knowing till now.
Why hasn't this been in the papers, etc.?

Unless there's a submarine dock underneath the main building, colour me unimpressed.

More than that I can imagine.

Emirates Palace cost something like $900 million.
I would say about the same price. It depends if they want everything to be done in gold or not.

Ugh! How hideously wasteful!

And what about the "Ladies' and Childrens' Beach" on Ras Al Akhdhar that has been under redevelopment for several years? It was quite a large project, and a lot of work had been done on it already. Is it just going to be demolished?

Disgusting.

Emirates Palace was $3-4billion, 11aed billion+. This will probably be in the $5-8billion dollar range, 16-20aed billion+. That is speculation mind you, but it seems fair enough based on the Palace's price. Staggering sums far surpassing the Burj Dubai.

I was of the impression that there were 3 palaces to be made at Ras Al Akhdar (ex-Umm Al Naar area) ... This is near the existing palace !

Is Ras Al Akhdar not beside the Emirates Palace, as shown in this post? I thought the 'new name' for Umm Al-Nar was Sas Al-Nakl.

Ooops .. Mae Kulpa .. yes it must have been at Ras Al Akhdar (i.e; Ladies beach area) rather than near Sas Al Nakheel (ex-Umm al Naar) area.

It is clear now ...

Greek firm wins Abu Dhabi presidential palace contract

* United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, August 03 - 2010 at 09:38

Greek firm Consolidated Contractors Co (CCC) has been selected by the UAE presidential affairs ministry for the estimated Dhs1.8bn ($490m) main construction contract on the presidential palace project in the Ras al-Akhdar area of Abu Dhabi Island, Meed has reported. The new palace will cover a total built-up area of 220,000 sq m between the existing presidential palace and the Emirates Palace Hotel. US-based RW Armstrong is the project manager, while the local firm Ewan Architectural & Engineering Consultancy is the appointed architect.
