Greek firm Consolidated Contractors Co (CCC) has been selected by the UAE presidential affairs ministry for the estimated Dhs1.8bn ($490m) main construction contract on the presidential palace project in the Ras al-Akhdar area of Abu Dhabi Island, Meed has reported. The new palace will cover a total built-up area of 220,000 sq m between the existing presidential palace and the Emirates Palace Hotel. US-based RW Armstrong is the project manager, while the local firm Ewan Architectural & Engineering Consultancy is the appointed architect. The engineer is UK-based WSP Group and the cost consultant is Bahrain-based Haj Gulf.

R
In civil construction paternity Greek company is actually Archirodon .. CCC is a Palestinian company but registered in Greece.

I am sure it will be a challenging project and why not.

Look more closely - the palm trees along the road are all designed to bend back to allow planes to land - and the swimming pool will move sideways to reveal launch pad....

Theses are from a display at Emirates Palace. So whenever anyone's next there try get some more info. When its going to be complete, cost etc.

This is beautiful. I wish the UAE would build more in traditional style like this than all these glass Lego blocks, or at least create traditional "old town centers" and then build the towers around them. Highrises look great in pictures, and form a distance, but they don't make for the friendliest of cities.

Very true. If you look at the overhead render that Bu Maitha provided, you'll see the road the goes to the middle of the Emirates Palace and everything to the left of that is GONE - so all the green area in that render, will be completely private! Looks like it will be all taken, which is pretty ridiculous, since the Emirates Palace took a lot of beautiful property as well. You'd think AD would build some beautiful park space and more beach, but no...

Disgusting.
Yes, wasteful! And gone. The Ladies club on Al Ras Al Akhdar was "taken" in November. They are dismantling and gutting it now. Kinda sad. Why are they building another two holes plus the Etihad Towers on that part of the peninsula - it's going to be pretty crowded, and with only one way in and out...people that live and stay there will be very inconvenienced every time they have to stop the traffic when the Sheikh wants a loaf of bread .

Again, agreed! But there really isn't that much out there to begin with. I run within Al Ras Al Akhdar, and I love it. No traffic, and quiet. But in a few years, probably no more...

It truly is unfortunate that they are taking all that land. The Ladies Club is being dismantled and gutted as we speak. If you look - it appears that all the land to the left of the Emirates Palace will walled off. So you will not even be able to drive down that way like you can now. Here are some pics of the current progress: I posted them yesterday - but for some reason the post was never approved...?

Very true! While there is not much out there to do on Al Ras Al Akhdar, it is a nice quiet area to run, with a decent breeze off the sea.

Well besides the AD Ladies Club, which is being dismantled and gutted right now, and Emirates Palace there is not an accessible beach over there. But yes, another area lost to development. It appears from the rendering that Bu Maitha posted they are going to restrict access past the second circle which is the EP's main (public) entrance. That's really too bad.

Nice project!

It is. Although at this phase all you notice is huge mounts of dirt and sand moving around. They have constructed a bunch of cranes on the site.
