nice!i always wondered where and how much did hungary build in the 20's and 30's?all i kept seeing of budapest was the same old gorgeous XIXth century architecture.do you have more photos of architectural achievements of hungary from the interwar period?also, are there any albums featuring international style/art deco architecture form hungary?oh, and a shorrt description going along with the photos would be great

Yes i have some more photos from the interwar period,first:

Városmajor Church (by Aladár Árkay és Bertalan Árkay) built 1933



then Pécs, Urania Cinema (by Károly Weichinger) built 1936



Budapest, Irányi str 8. (by László Lauber) built 1936



Budapest, Dob str Post Office (by Gyula Rimanóczy) built 1939



Budapest, State Office (by id. István Janáky) built 1942

I can't believe these Dutch gems haven't passed the revue yet.

The Scheepvaarthuis (shipping house) in Amsterdam, a fine example of the Amsterdamse School.


The Bijenkorf department store in Rotterdam. One of Dudok's finest creations. Damaged during WWII, torn down in the 50s.


The Bergpolderflat in Rotterdam. The archtypical Dutch social housing project.

Great collection here. I knew Belgrade has rich heritage of this period, but many of those awesome buildings are I've seen for the first time. Well done Rascian and others!
