Public beaches macam Chenang memang makin teruk. Tapi private beaches macam dekat Mutiara Burau Bay, The Datai etc memang crystal clear. Penah dok Mutiara Burau Bay, perghhhhh... Paradise bro! Tapi harga bilik paling murah pun 500+

Dan yang pulau2 pun best gak pantai dia. Tapi pun aku still consider Sabah has THE best beaches in Malaysia. Cumanya, kat Langkawi ni boleh tahan dan datang dengan pakej shopping duty free.. Sebab tu femes. Orang Mesia ni minat shopping je.

Try to compare Langkawi with Koh Adang and Taratao, the 2 closest Thai islands and you will see how different the water quality is compared to Langkawi.. in Langkawi the water can be quite murky even brownish at times but at Thai islands they even got house reefs.

A good indicator of water quality is the coral life.. tell me where in the waters immediately around Langkawi you can snorkel or dive?.. the answer is of course there's none! unless you take a boat ride to Payar island halfway to Penang then you'll get quite decent corals and marine life, which is still incomparable to the islands off the East Coast. Truthfully speaking I don't have to go to offshore islands in Terengganu to get to beaches with crystal clear waters, just a few minutes drive from my house.

Jgn compare east coast water vs west coast water especially those along selat melaka. Koh adang n taratao islands are belong to Andaman sea. Also langkawi never been a haven to sea divers. If you wanna compare east coast corals, u should compare to those at sabah waters. That's very fair comparison

Datai Hotels & Resorts launched
Raini Hamdi, Singapore, April 30, 2012

MALAYSIA is spinning off a new hotel brand, Datai Hotels & Resorts, from one of its most acclaimed resorts, The Datai Langkawi.
The resort is majority-owned by Khazanah Nasional, the government's investment holding arm (TTG Asia e-Daily, August 2, 2011), and is managed by Archipelago Hotels & Resorts, also formed by Khazanah as part of the government's plan to march forth in hospitality.
With the exception of Resorts World, Malaysia virtually does not boast homegrown hotel brands which have a regional or international footprint.
A second Datai will open in Desaru in September 2014, “with a number of other exciting projects in the pipeline”, said Frank Zeller, managing director of Archipelago.
The hotel is part of the Desaru Coast Integrated Tourism Destination, also driven by Khazanah (TTG Asia e-Daily, March 9, 2012).
Observers said The Datai Langkawi was a hard act to follow, in no small part due to its unique location and architecture, which cascades from centuries-old rainforest to a private beach.
Zeller said it was “the ideal foundation” from which to “thoughtfully” grow the brand “through the management of appropriate and exciting luxury iconic hotels and resorts in unique destinations around the world”.
Manuel Ferrer, managing director of Pacific World Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, betted on "good to very good" prospects for Datai Hotels & Resorts.
"There is a rapidly-growing class of affluent Asians for whom this kind of product is appealing. There's the increasing fascination and willingness to travel to the Orient among Western world clients and there are tens of thousands of expats in the region willing to spend their breaks in this kind of property. Plus, depending on each property, there are meetings, events, weddings. So, the clients are there. It is a matter of…above all, sticking to the brand promise of ‘creating everlasting memories’.”
This is not the first time single properties have spun off chains. Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group was built on the success of The Oriental, Bangkok (now The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok), while Soneva Fushi launched Six Senses Resorts & Spas, to name a few examples.

from http://www.99east.com/

99 East is Langkawi Island's first integrated residential and resort development. Located just 10 minutes from the island's international airport, 99 East offers a complete island lifestyle, with sustainable ecological ethics.

Located at Bukit Malut on sea-fronting land half way between Pantai Cenang and Kuah town, 99 East features the 99 East Residences, a selection of luxurious low-density villas, in addition to a world-class championship golf course, the 99 East Golf Club. When completed, the development will also feature boutique hotels, chic eateries and easy access to everything Langkawi has to offer.
