Marudhanayagam
This comes as one big pleasant surprise to Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's fans! Kamal Haasan has told a Mumbai tabloid that he will be reviving work on his pet project, 'Marudhanayagam', that went on floors more than a decade back! After finishing work on 'Viswaroopam', Kamal Haasan will begin work on 'Marudhanayagam', a period drama on the life of warrior Mohammed Yusuf Khan (aka Marudhanayagam) which will release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and English! Marudhanayagam is an 18th century warrior. Post 'Marudhanayagam', Kamal will work on his bilingual 'Amar Hai'. This film will boast off a huge budget of Rs 150 crore and Kamal while speaking to the daily expressed, "We shot 25% of the film when we went on floors in 1997, we couldn't continue due to budget and several other constrains. We are now keen on reviving the film and this time lapse doesn't matter for we stopped shooting where ten years are supposed to pass by in the life of our hero, what a coincidence!" Not just that, the film will have Superstar Rajinikanth in a cameo! "We have a role that's ideal for him; we did ten films in the early stage of our careers. None came up with a project worthy enough for us to unite, its time for me to bell the cat", says Kamal. The film was launched by Queen Elizabeth II in 1997 and has been long pending in the production stage. It now looks like Indian film patrons are in for a visual extravaganza for Kamal, who is known for his daring and novice attempts, is all set to present us with his pet project... And what can excite film patrons more than the coming together of Rajini - Kamal? |

I hope the movie "Ulagam suttrum vaaliban" also underwent a similar thing and was released a way back (years ago). And "Central cinemas" in Madurai West Tower Street is still running housefull on sundays with people from Nellai and all coming to watch MGR Movies released in that theater alone. Apart from all these, when i went to the movie, "Veerapaandiya Kattabomman" while I was a kid in Chintamani talkies, there was a good group of people watching it, they did "Milk abhishekam" outside the movie hall and inside the movie hall they shown him the coconut over which they will fire a camphor and "dhrishti kazhithal" and all and the scenes in which the villain speaks much, they shown their slippers
. Was really funny to watch all those. I think I went to this movie after Sivaji Ganesan passed away.

I recently saw a few clips of Ulagam Sutrum Valiban in a hotel.
I really enjoyed. Except for the lack of modern technical gimmicks, the movie was far ahead of its time. 1970 Japan Expo scenes & Thailand scenes were very new to us then. The movie was released after MGR was ousted from DMK and MK tried his best to prevent the release on some grounds. |

I heard that even MGR when he was an influential man in Tamil Movie industry asked some directors (or others) to take flop movies for Actor Ravichandran (who said to have given a massive opening movie, i don't know its name) to make him a failure. Is it true? This thing was told to me by a friend who heard it from his father. Forgive me if what i said is wrong.

I guess dhanush finds it fancy while saying that he is a failure. Starting from his first few ventures itself he used to be soup boy ![]() I don't now about "thulluvatho illamai" and "kaadhal kondein" but the "thiruda thirudee" showed him as a initial failure, similar thing in "yaaradee nee mohinee" and now these movies. Exception was "Maapillai" and to some extent "Thiruvilayaadal aarambam". Don't know about the other movies like "dreams", "Pudukottailirunthu saravanan", "Sullaan", etc Sullaan was a mokkai i saw that in sun tv.

Dhanush is a success since he is identified as a person with all the short comings, which most of the present day youth assume that they are also similar to him . (same blood)
