Could be. The EASA didn't occupy the entire KölnTriangle. According to Wikipedia, they occupied 11.000 m², which is roughly 1/6 of its total floor area.
At the end of the day, they will now double their space by moving into the Neue Direktion.

At the beginning of the week the Zurich Insurance Group signed the tenancy agreement and so the investor bought the plot from the city. It is expected that the building application will be submitted in the next months so that the construction can still start this year. The first buildings are to be completed by 2019.

  • Architects: KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten (Braunschweig), gmp Gerkan, Marg und Partner (Hamburg), Max Dudler Architekt (Berlin), Ortner & Ortner Baukunst (Cologne/Berlin)
  • Investment volume: € 550 million
  • Gross floor space: 135,000 m²
  • Start of construction: 2016
  • First buildings are expected to be completed by 2019

Domhotel
Innenstadt / Altstadt-Nord

Starting this month the Domhotel next to the Cathedral will be redeveloped. The investor will add a new roof to the 150-year-old building - replacing the "temporary" post-war roof - including a rooftop restaurant. The reopening as a "5 star superior" hotel is scheduled for late 2018.
This means that unfortunately we won't see a reconstruction of the original roof, though.

  • Construction period: May 2016 - late 2018
  • Ground floor: Another restaurant and upscale retail

Porz-Mitte
Porz

Porz is a city district in the very south-east of Cologne, close to the airport. It was incorporated with Cologne in 1975 and was an independend city before that.
The centre of Porz is characterised by an old Hertie department store from the 1970s which will now be torn down to make room for new developments. The developer is planning a new urban quarter with apartment buildings which have retail spaces in the ground floors.

  • Architects: JSWD architects / moderne stadt
  • Area: 4,000 m²
  • Gross floor space: 36.000 m²
  • Utilisation: Residential, retail

Neue Direktion
Innenstadt / Altstadt-Nord

The Neue Direktion is the new headquarter for the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) which has recently been completed. The EASA has already moved in.
The original building was almost completely destroyed in the war and only the front facade survived. Rebuilt in a simplified style, the missing facades have now been partially reconstructed properly and a modern rooftop extension has been added which simulates the old pre-war roof.

  • office space: 21,500 m²
  • tenant: European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)
  • completion: 2016

All successful drafts from the competition are now published. Here is the winning draft for the plot next to the Deutz-Mülheimer-Straße in the east of the quarter by Ortner & Ortner architects. The facade will be made out of burnt clay and Oberkirchner sandstone.
