yeah, the terminal is pretty small. the design looks okay but not that modern. nice one would be great for future after all tourism is the main source of income for people on this beautiful island.

I don't know what that article is about but as far as I remember from that airport.. it could need better public transport to Phuket town and the major beaches. But not sure because I mostly came there by bus

More modern loking airport would be good also

Here is the Summarized version...

It's just say that The Extention part-Stage I of the Phuket International Airport (The 2nd busiest Airport in Thailand after Bangkok one), is almost completed, the expansion included the new part of Arriving-Passenger Hall and plane-parking-holes.

and the Stage II is now on the way of designing progress and studying., including Runway, which now the lenght of the runway is only 3000 meters, which not enough to suport the flights to neither England nor USA...so, the capacity will be expanded to supports those flights.

and importantly, Thai year Phuket Airport-Passenger and Flight number hits the new record at 2963 flights and 509841 passengers or more than 12 % increased!....

Phuket has so many different things on the same island.. a town, sleepy villages, a theme park, luxury resorts, quiet beaches, yatch clubs, mountain vistas, fishing villages, and of course mass tourism, not to mention all the activities and festivals with many people taking photos
