interesting....surprised that in the current economic climate and the cost of healthcare, along with licensing issues, this one will get off the ground.....

Best of luck to them. A little risky in my opinion considering eThekwini Heart centre, Mount Edgecombe and Umhlanga hospitals are so close. Didn't realise that there were that many sick people. Good news for me

I assume there has been a significant population growth in that area, particularly in the middle to upper income groups?

As the description states, this is not your run of the mill hospital. It is focussing on more niche areas. It wont have casualty or the like. Umhlanga hospital is bursting at the seams and cannot cope. Ethekweni heart hospital has been capacity since opening for many of its divisions. More hospital care is needed in this region. To reflect population growth. People in the Umhlanga vicinity in the middle to upper income bracket has grown by 30000 in the past 10 years. Its most definately needed. Its the same reason why a large private hospital is nearing completion in hillcrest. Its also why there are 3 new government hospitals underway in umlazi, bridge city and clermont.

Reason... that's all I could find. Something fishy about it though.

No Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics or General Medicine? I suppose the latter is a given and so they don't mention it. Still rather unusual they don't have the other two.

Its not offering those according to what i have been told. Nor will it offer any maternity facilities. In my mind its aiming to be a more referal hospital or special procedures centre.
