Prague

Now eastern Europe. This is Prague now. The Czech Republic.


stayed 5 days in Prague and so took a lot of pictures. I'll let you enjoy them. Many pictures are dark or taken looking at the sun, that's because I had to wake up early to avoid the huge tourists flow (insane). But in the other hand it gives some kind of dark image of the city.


The castle, it's a nice one but not my prefered. There is the cathedral, Saint Vitus, inside it's wall.

Now the Charles' Bridge, with the towers. The last pics only show one tower.

Saint Nicolas, there are two Saint Nicolas in Prague, this one is on the way to the castle.







A church at the end of the Charles' Bridge, on the Square of the crusaders. I forgot its name.



Our lady of the Tyn is a nice church in front of the city house and one of the Saint Nicolas church. No pictures inside......

This is the city house. There is a funny clockwork system on it. With a funny animation.

The wall of the hunger, is an ancient fortification of the park. You can see it from afar in the first picture.

Our lady of the Victory is a minor church, it's a very cool one inside but no picture allowed.



Here you can see the embassy of Malta, a minor but nice building.

Wonderful pictures. Prague has so a lot of every architectonic style treasures...By the way, the Eiffel tower is view tower Petrin, under it is a park, where many Prague people used to spent its first romances.

What's the deal with Prague? Is it a business city, or just a historical city? I can alittle confused on that...I alway's thought it was the most marvelous city, historically wise ofcourse, and then I see a couple of cranes...Some, please explain...

As at the moment no Czech guys are present at Euroscrapers, let me just answer:
I would say it´s both business and historical city. Of course, historical part plays and played a great role, the rulers regarded often Prague as a capital and therefore the historical monuments from almost every architectural period. As the historical centre is quite huge (for the cities with comparable size and no. of inhabittants), some businesses are located in historical centre as well. Many businessess are located also south from historical centre (e.g. Nusle, Michle suburbs) and in the surroundings, where are located new administrative buidlings and complexes.

Prague is a great city, however a bit over rated by some people. Great architecture and preserved thanks to very little destruction during WWII. What other city in Europe would you people say Prague looks like or vice versa?

I've been there a week and it might be the nicest city I've been in

I just got back from there and Graz (Austria). I think Prague might be the nicest city I've ever been to. New Year's there was a wild night of public urination and (some very large) fireworks that were thrown about with utterly dangerous abandon. Old town square was full of smashed champagne bottles.

It's fascinating to see how the city changes in different parts. If you farther out, to Strasnicka, you can see all sorts of old Soviet bloc architecture. Some buildings still have communist motifs such as the Brave Worker or variations on the hammer and sickle. My favorite part of the city, though, was where I stayed, near Naroda Trida. It's a quiet and untouristed part that's quite near everything.

Yeah, totally. Some of the old buildings remind me so much about Kraków. The two cities have some common architecture saved Love it!

I think Prague has a very difficult problem in how to deal with the massive flows of tourism which grow every year.

Wow very nice pictures. Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Too bad I was there only for one day. Have to visit it some other time.

I have heard so many different stories from people I know who have been in Prague, some liked it alot, other said it was only nice building (which you can find anywhere else in EU) other than that it was hell on earth? Why do you think this big contrast exist?
