It is better to organise rather having everything in one thread. It would be easy for someone who is interested in particular thing to browse through the information.

Can we create a new thread with the name 'Chennai Tourism and hospitality' and club threads like '5 star hotels of chennai ,Miniature tamil nadu,ECR entertainment corridor' into one?

We can also have news about beach beutification project,Adyar eco park,Proposed botanical garden, Painting city roads etc. under that thread.

As many of the above threads are active only sporadically,it will be wiser if all are under one thread

Even I doubt sometimes whether Accord Metropolitan is a 5-star as I found only a couple of sources claiming it to be a 5-star. Not sure. But the rest of them are all 5-stars. I've checked with numerous sources before preparing this list. The Raintree hotel is the first 5-star Ecotel hotel of South India. Like die4chennai said, Asiana hotel is a 5-star.

Seconded. In this way, we can make Chennai Forum more organised.

Great! So, Chennai now has about 13 five-stars apart from those under construction.

In actual rating 7 star does not exist, the maximum is a 5 star deluxe. 7 star classifications are more often than not, self claimed for marketing milage. Even the famed Burj Al Arab is a 5D.

The Le Royal Meridien is a 5D like the Coromandel, ITC Park Sheraton.

Leela and Marriott

How's the progress on these projects?

Talking about Leela, there is a Leela Palace in Chennai, isn't it? Is it part of the same group and in that case, is it a 5 Star hotel?

In fact, these hotels (Leela and Marriott) are in MRC Nagar, off Santhome High Road, towards the sea.

Which Leela are you talkin' about? The Leela Palace Kempenski (of the Leela group) is still under construction. It'll be thrown open in 2010. It's an INR 2.8 billion (US$ 75 million), 380-room five-star deluxe hotel and is 15-stories high. (see rendering posted by Mukund on page 1). On inauguration, it'll be Chennai's first beachfront 5-star hotel.

The JW Marriott hotel is nearby. It's a 371-rooms five-star deluxe hotel under construction at a cost of INR 4.6 billion (being built by Viceroy Hotels of Hyderabad and will be managed by Marriott International).
