Yes. And the visibility is hidden by the other buildings in the front. The renders of both Leela and ITC Grand Chola show ample space in the front.

Also, Taj Coromandel—the frontage of which is hardly visible to the pedestrians walking beside the building.

In most cases, the width of the road is all that matters. With the width not exceeding, say, 100 ft., the grandeur of the building won't be obvious. Needless to mention, many of our roads, unlike the ones in New Delhi or Mumbai, are not too wide.

On the flip side, we have the Grand Hyatt (the formar Oberoi) in Mount Road, Le Royal Meridian in the Kathipara Junction, the Park in the Gemini Junction, and few others which enjoy a good frontage.

In the second photo, which one is the Leela? The one (still under construction) in the background? What about the other (completed) one?

Marriott and Leela progress are satisfactory - Hope they speed up the activities to meet the scheduled opening.

ACL's progess is great - may I know under which franchise is this hotel coming up?

Rasnaboy - you need to go to a optometrist..

For all that I know, a five-star hotel has to fulfill 37 requirements (unfortunately, I don't have the list).

Not sure who rates them, but I think it's the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism.

To my knowledge, we do not have any standardized star-rating system across the globe. Hotels are generally rated by local government agencies and other organizations. In the United States, apart from government agencies, various independent organizations including National consumer travel organizations rate them. They are also sometimes rated by travel Websites and guidebooks. In general, one-star refers to economy, two-star refers to value, three-star refers to quality, four-star refers to superior quality and five-star refers to exceptional quality. Like prakstar said, there is no 7-star ratings in reality; they are just self-claimed ratings as part of marketing strategy.

It's under the franchise of a U.S. Hotel chain (name of which is still unknown).

One more update: It's 220 rooms and not 300. (Am updating the same in all my previous posts.) (Oh, I really need to go to an optometrist now. )
