Ceebros Raintree hotel: I think this one is coming up near Indian Oil (opp to proposed Forum mall) near Devar statue.

They have whitewashed the exteriors and it looks similar to Empee Hilton in terms of % of completion. They might open this by early next year.

No, no! There is some construction process going on, if I'm not wrong (though not sure what it is). Haven't been there for the past few weeks. Am undergoing a surgery now. Will tell you the status when I'm up and around (maybe in another couple of weeks).

Opposite Forum Mall? Are you sure? There is a Prestige Constructions site there, but a 15-storey commercial building, the Prestige Polygon is coming up.. Maybe they dropped plans for the mall?

When you go towards Saidapet, opp to cenatoph signal, you wil find the Indian Oil corp building, then proposed hotel construction and next to this there is a commercial complex construction happenning. Diagonaly opp to this construction is the upcoming Forum mall.

Of the below 2 pics, can someone help me to identify Leela palace and Mariott?

I notice that a lot of people are under the assumption that there are hotels over 5 stars. That is a myth. Take a lot at this hotel, The Georges V in Paris. This is one of the most expensive hotels in the world, every day stay costs about $1500. It is rated as a 5 star hotel.

It is rated by TripAdvisor to be the among the finest luxury hotels in the world. Some people hate it due to the amount of money being thrown around being obscene. All toilet products are Bulgari etc.

Yeah I know the place you are referring to - I'm just trying to say that afaik there's no Forum Mall coming up there..

Leela claims to be the first 5 star BEACH FACING hotel in Chennai. I think they did not take into a/c Mariott since JWM also s beach facing!

Im skeptical abt the location. It is exactly near the place where Adyar river joins BOB. And the place stinks. How are they gng to sell the rooms? Though d hotel ll ve centralised AC, think abt banquets & pool????

We are used to the stink for so many years. For your information, all the prestigious clubs of Chennai like Boat Club, Madras Club, Alumni Club - all are on the banks of the so called river Adyar. Madras Boat Club members practise and race in the muddy smelly Adyar river.

Similarly Cooum also has a few clubs like Gymkhana on its banks.

THe English preferred their clubs near the rivers or on the waterfront and we just followed them.

I think leela will be forced to spend some money to make the place less stinkier .

But with the Adayar Poonga project coming up, will there not be any improvement to the river?

And any more info on the Lemon Tree hotel in Sardar Patel road? I dono when this came up and it'll be good if someone posts the rendering/picture.

At present Forum Mall by Prestige is only at Vijaya Sesh Mahal (next to Green Park Hotel Vadapalani). The Nanadanam property ie Soundharya Nursery land was initially planned to have a hotel, A Grade Office space and a mall / shopping arcade.

Prestige may have slowed down on the mall issue.

I am seeing lot of activities at the site.

And regarding this Prestige discussion.. Forum,mount rd was jus a proposal which is now changed to office space which they r constructing with Reliance collaboration.
Their greams road project is coming up near BSNL office with digging going on in full swing... Their OMR project is in the final phases which can be seen below
