Indeed. As I explained to him on another thread:

This plane is OK, don't begin this BS about SSJ-100
A lot of components are out-sourced (like in Airbus for example) My translation is in red

What I don't get about this plane crash is the fact that they were in an area with 2000+ meter mountains, yet they asked flight control to drop to an altitude of 1800m (without declaring an emergency).

Aviation accidents do happen occasionally in all countries. Particularly on expiremental & test flights like this. The components of this Sukhoi aircraft came from a wide variety of sources. In response to this very sad tragedy, from the US, we extend our sincere condolences to the crash victims & to Russians generally.

I was so shoked to hear that news!! ((
It will be not easy to know the reason i guess. Because aircraft itself is good and new and there were thousands of demonstration flights of this type. But what i am almost sure that it wasnt a pilot mistake. This liner was operated by one of the best professionals in the country, 57-year-old pilot-cosmonaut of the 1st class Alexander Yablontsev. This high quality pilot for his life has mastered 45 types of planes, including the best Russian fighters. And he flew over 10000 hours during his life including more than 1300 hours on SSJ. He was the first who has tested first SSJ aircraft and many test flights were operated by him. Is it possible that it could be some diversion? My deepest condolences to all who lost its relatives and friends, terrible accident on the start of SSJ career, seems like it will be its end. Last edited by Iggis; May 10th, 2012 at 12:09 PM. |

Yes, it's possible, but Occam's razor anyone?
![]() As for the pilot, he wouldn't be the first massively experienced pilot to commit error, so I can't imagine why you'd be "almost sure" of anything. This is just the sad reality of aviation: the majority of accidents have human error as main cause. I'm not saying this is the case with this particular one, because there's no way to know yet. Did you watch the video I posted above?

Remember the A320 during it's early life? Crashed doing a low fly by at an airport in France. Look how successful it turned out.
I don't want to speculate too much, but the photo of the crash site has me thinking CFIT. |

Well that could very well be, the Superjet has every chance to become a game changer in the worldwide regional jet market. Big money is involved, and besides, the project is strategic for the whole Russian aerospace industry (and consequently for the military) so there's many people around who'd love to sabotage it. And some have the technology to do the deal without leaving too many footprints around.I don't think so, why should it, of course it's not good advertisement with the general public, but experts at the airlines will evaluate the true reasons for the crash based on real data. If there's no connection with any inherent flaw in the SSJ design, they will not change their opinion about the aircraft.

It was the Airbus A320. You have the documentary about that crash in the video above.
Regarding the A330, you're probably thinking Air France Flight 447, from Rio to Paris, which crashed in the Atlantic Ocean in 2009.

Fuck the Superjet.
If it now goes down and doesn't get any orders, maybe it will teach some people a lesson in the Russian airliner industry. It's fine when we have problems with Ballistic missiles or satellite launches; that's just equipment - but dozens of people dying is atrocious and very sad - we shouldn't be selling civil aircraft until either the airplane factories, pilots, airline services; whoever is reponsible - learn a few lessons. And that may take a while. RIP; we literaly killed off our own customers in Indonesia. What a monumental fuckup. I feel very sorry for all the families of the dead. |
