(Reuters) - U.S. government investigators looking into the crash of a UPS cargo plane said on Friday the pilots received a low altitude warning barely seven seconds before the sound of impact, according to data recovered from the cockpit voice recorder.
Source: http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/...97E0TT20130817

Oh man! I wonder if the pilots disregarded the warning since it was early morning and they relied on visual aid to land the aircraft.
When the "Low Terrain! Pull Up" warning comes on, any experienced air instructor will tell you: "Don't ignore your instruments!!" There's nothing worse like 'human error' when it comes to an air disaster. I hope this wasn't the case.

It's obviously not TK, but another Turkish Airline, Europe Jet.

Here's the The Aviation Herald article on this accident:

A bigger incident tonight at Bangkok where a Thai A330, operating TG679 from Guangzhou to Bangkok. It seems that the landing went completely wrong, it seems like a landing gear collapse and/or a runway overrun. Luckily All 298 passengers were able to exit the aircraft safely.

Aviation Herald report with some daylight pictures.

The titles have been painted over so we won't know it's a Thai Airways plane that crash landed here.

damage to the runway

A bit of black paint isn't going to make a difference it's so bloody obvious which airline it is.

What stupidity? Every single airlines covers branding after a crash, esp. at the airport. That's the first priority.

Back in the old days when people didn't have camera phones or camcorders on hand was practical to hide the branding. These days, images & videos are broadcasted around the world in an instant. It's funny because I saw a few foreign media outlets publish the picture with the blacked out brand name. You'd have to be pretty clueless not to be able to identify which airline that aircraft belonged to.

Exactly. In my opinion it is indeed a sign of stupidity that such a well-known airline considered this damage control initiative useful. If you google "thai logo cover up" you will see that the black paint did all but protect the carrier's brand name.

The Thai A330 was towed to a hangar for further inspections.

Thai said the plane would require two new engines and three new bogie beams, although it's not clear yet if the A330 will be repaired.
