I've just been looking at LCC's Planning website and I'm slightly confused!! Has this been approved already?

Just checking on the application for the revised scheme, and it isn't yet approved, but the target date for determination is 14 June. Perhaps this is tied in with what the builder mentioned relating to the second week in June, as above?

Re:12/01191/FU, is that hot off the press news Aaron? It's still showing 'Decision pending' on the planning website.

That is just so not nice.
![]() Architects and planners shouldn't be allowed to accept any bit of old carbuncle. The only reason the building will blend in with the neighbouring buildings is because it's just as bad. (not referring to the Rose Bowl by the way) |

The app no. Rob quoted is the correct one, and is due to be determined on the 14th of June. Not sure if we'll find out on the 14th of June though

Whether or not people think this design below is 'Plastic', grey or what not, it still makes the portland stone design look like unimaginative crap.
![]() ![]() ![]() I honestly wish that it was this design going ahead instead Last edited by Lad 2011; June 11th, 2012 at 07:37 PM. |

I prefer the black design, but the Portland Stone design is still going to be an improvement to the area.
I just hope that future buildings will feature glass to help break up the blandness of this area.

actually, I prefer the portland stone design to that one you posted leedslad. That design will get tired and dated real quick, the portland stone at least stands the chance of looking presentable in 20 years from now.
Also, the dark coloured cladding is giving me 60's pebbledash flashbacks. There needs to be more stone based, mid to high rises in Leeds to complement the Victorian architecture. Anyone else happy that they're upping the height? A little upward pressure on the surroundings is a welcome thing and a rooftop bar? I'd say yes as it can serve to fuel peoples desires to be off the ground and experience being in high rises. Oddly, I think this building could be a long term keeper, it won't win any awards but it could have a net benefit to the city and especially this side of the city. If I could change one thing, it would be to drag the rest of the building up to the same height - why did it have to have a saggy bottom?

I think to act as a transition between the low rise buildings near Millennium Square to the taller buildings on Woodhouse Lane.
It's certainly welcome that the height has been raised though.

Agree the black design looked better and the area is very bland. It's another missed opportunity that were are all too familiar with here in Leeds sadly. The better designs seem to find their way into other cities like Manchester and Birmingham but not Leeds.
