Mantri gets notice over mall.
http://www.hindu.com/2010/04/24/stor...2463901000.htm
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday ordered issue of notices on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition on alleged irregularities in the construction of Mantri Square Mall that has come up in Malleswaram, Bangalore. The petitioners said the building had come up in violation of certain by-laws. Moreover, there was no scientific method of parking and exit of vehicles from the building and that this was causing traffic hold-up on Platform Road and on other roads in Malleswaram and Seshadripuram. A Division Bench headed by Justice Manjula Chellur ordered issue of notices to the State, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Mantri and other respondents. The Bench adjourned further hearing of the case. |

BJP has definitely started doing a lot of work in the past year. The upcoming monsoon would be a further test to the newly elected B'lore Corporation, as well as the threat of floods in North Karnataka to the state govt. Last year's devastation is still fresh in most people's minds. The Bellary reddys are keeping a low profile as also the assorted Senas. So far so good. I hope the govt is able to focus on good development.

For the first time we have got a govt which is trying to reduce the regional imbalance in our state. BSY is Especially concentrating on the North east Karnataka(Sahara Desert )- which shares the same with Vidharbha and Telangana. With some big ticket investments expected in Steel and power sector in and around Bellary region NE karnataka has a good future. ![]() Go BSY go Wait for Few more years Karnataka under BJP flag will blossom

No one gives a damn what these politicians or political parties are called, at the end of the day, all citizens ask the same question, "what have you done lately to improve things?". Quite amazingly, the answer happens to be none. Every politician/babu should hang a couple of pictures from IVC with the title they had proper well maintained system with an efficient administration apparatus 5000 years ago. This ought to redouble their puny efforts in the modern era. For example, maintaining a city road is not rocket science. It does not very long to come up a model city road, nice sidewalks, good road surface, proper signage/lights, sewage/storm drains, water supply, electricity, phone, cable, etc all well thought out and neatly designed. Replicate this model everywhere at the minimum system. Next study the various traffic patterns and address bottlenecks. Invariably they happen to be at junctions. At the major junction, what we see today is parked autos, cabs, bus stands smack dab at the corner, haphazard parking, major lanes clobbered by parked vehicles. No wonder the traffic piles up at junctions. Removing all of these obstructions at junctions would improve the flow of traffic. Alas our numb skull traffic planners/city planners don't have the time or fortitude to address simple issues. There are many more city issues that can be addressed sanely, if only they put their common sense thinking hat on for a change. Stop the petty charades, corruption and do nothing attitudes, instead do something that is enduring and changes the value proposition for ordinary citizens. Try at least to measure up to our ancients who ran a world class civilization, that is all we citizens ask for.

Second IISc campus will be set up in Karnataka: Yeddyurappa
Excellent news , we should not allow any institutions or company's to go away from Namma Karnataka.
http://www.indiavision.com/news/article/topnews/48806/ Bangalore (PTI) - The proposed second campus of Indian Institute of Science would come up in Chitradurga district of Karnataka as planned, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said on Monday. “The IISC campus is very much coming up in Chitradurga. The district administration has already granted nearly 2,000 acres (at Kudapur village in the district) for it,” he told reporters here on the sidelines of a Police Investiture Ceremony. He denied recent media reports that the proposed campus of the Bangalore-based premier institute was being shifted t

Namma Bangaluru Best Bangaluru
What a rubbish news and rumour,Namma bangaluru in five years is going to be the world one of the most beautiful and liveable city, yes i agree there is crime rise due to more people comming form few states (i dont want to mention here ) if u read news u will know who are all the people doing murders and theft in Namma bangaluru , but those people will be easily delt .
as far development is concern it is one of the fastest growing city of the world ,I have also seen people who are not from namma karnakata ,always comment bad about my city and we should tackle this soon .. Namma Bangaluru ..Best Bangaluru ...Educated Bangaluru ..Cleanest Bangaluru .. Deciplined Bangaluru .. Peaceful Bangaluru [QUOTE=Mahesh Nanjunda;54172885]http://www.deccanherald.com/content/...iveable-5.html The rival political parties and candidates fighting Sunday’s Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) poll, who promise adequate water supply to Bangaloreans, may be totally unaware of the alarming ground reality. The fact perhaps may be that there would not be much water left in the city by the time the incoming BBMP corporators complete their five-year term. In yet another alarming projection of the city’s water situation, scientists at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore have predicted that the already depleted water resources of the city could dry up within the next five years. Increasing built-up area, rising temperature, rapidly depleting greenery and over-exploitation of ground water are threatening to render the city dry and dead, according to a recent study by IISc’s Energy and Wetland Group at the Centre for Ecological Sciences. “Soon we will be facing severe water crisis. Not much is spoken about conserving water resources — both ground water and surface water. Wetlands are being encroached upon. So is the greenery, creating heat islands in many parts of the city,” said IISc scientist Dr T V Ramachandra. [B][

Wow talk about blind patriotism....jeez dude I think every city has good and bad things about it. I've lived in Bangalore, and the worst part was the terrible traffic and lack of good public transport system. But Bangalore has some plus points....very few slums and pretty clean... I've lived in Bangalore. Bangalore used to be a great city 15 years ago, unfortunately, I think Bangalore city has gotten worse as more people have moved into to a city which can't handle them. I think it's going to get worse with all the traffic and pollution problems getting worse... It's okay to have pride, but it's bad to be so blindly patriotic that you overlook real problems. |

You made this comment about the BJP having completed one year in power earlier in another thread as well. I let it go the first time but I feel that people unfamiliar with KA politics should get the correct information. The fact is BJP came into power on their own i.e. without any coalition partners in May 2008 (~ 2 years ago). Prior to that they were partners in a coalition government for close to 2 years. In the most recent go around, BJP was able to get a single-party majority due to massive legislator buying efforts. You should not be blamed for thinking that BJP has been in power for just one year. Their first year in office was such a blur -- they went into deep slumber as soon as they won. Of course, they were wide awake when they fought among themselves. You may have forgotten that as recently as November 2009 the government nearly fell because of the internecine rebellion engineered by the Bellary brothers, all ministers in the BJP government. Speaking of them, the Rs. 15,000 Crore mining scam that they have been pulling off while governments watch will be the scam of this century of our nation. These are the same blokes who provided the funding for the legislator buying spree of the BJP in the state 2008 as well as to the national BJP. Their money power won them supporters in the central BJP org. who were willing to support their rebellion. Let us also be honest about the state of our city. This is coming from a person who has lived/visited this city from the early 60s. Bangalore is NOT the paradise that it once was, not even close. There are several reasons for it, primarily the overcrowding but poor governance and the poorer civic sense of the denizens are two very crucial factors. Talk to old time residents of this city and they will tell you about the dramatically falling civic sense. While we are generous in assigning blame to governments for not providing adequate physical and social infrastructure, we are shy of admitting that we, the people, are poor custodians of what little they do provide. Another gentleman in this thread was doing some chest-thumping about how our city is the best in the world. Having pride in your city in one thing but being blind to the city's shortcomings is entirely another. Late last night I drove from Jayanagar to the Cantonment area. There were not many vehicles on the road and the city's underbelly was exposed. It was shocking to see the uncollected garbage heaps getting blown around in the breeze and choking all the drains. We can't blame the govt. alone for this mess, after all it is we the people who generate the crap. I dread the onset of the monsoon. Let us not forget that we allowed a child (among others) to get swept away never to be found. Go ahead, call me anti-Bangalore, anti-national, whatever. Would not bother me a bit. I write these words out of deep anguish. I also put my money where my mouth is. If you want to talk some more, will be happy to carry on a civil discourse anytime, anywhere. I believe we can make positive change but change will only come when you acknowledge that change is desperately needed. Ultimately, it is the people who will bring about the change. Not BDA, not BBMP, not the GoK, not BJP, not JDS, not Congress. |

Being from north america and last visiting Blore in 2004 found a few things frustrating. When i was a kid Blore was my favorite place as it was the most modern and cleanest cities of India. Now people like my cousin and his friends dont think twice where they throw garbage and stated indians will never change. Pointed to a full bin and let him know thats how much more garbage would be around if everyone thought like that here. The lack of garbage bins was also quite a shock. I refused to just toss my garbage, but also hated how long it would take me to find a garbage bin. The mentality of the people has to change. With elders it may be too late but the younger generation I believe theres a chance. In school we used to have garbage day once a month where we would have tongs and pick up littler.
Also unbelievable how many footpaths I found with missing slabs. I remember just walking onto residency road at night and my foot falls into a area where there was a missing slab. Scraped my shins nicely against the pipe or what ever it was underneath. Had other mishaps and close calls, but there is still so much to love about this city that I will be back hopefully soon. Im sure lots has changed. |

All of the above seem to really be a priority of the new mayor. Although we have all heard this before. What are your thoughts on the new mayor. He seems to be a bit of a technie, maybe he will start tweeting daily =)
http://www.dnaindia.com/bangalore/re...arking_1374976 Things I would like to see is fines actually being enforced for things such as littering, breaking rules when driving such as not signaling and taking up two lanes, stores being fined for not keeping the back and front of their property clean. While it all sounds impossible, if people continually saw police coming down hard on people for these things, word will spread and maybe cause people to think twice. Gotta start somewhere. |

Anjana Chandramouly Bangalore, April 28 With corporates, especially in the IT sector, looking to expand again, commercial space-owners in Bangalore, badly beaten by the real estate market crash, are competing with each other to attract good clients. Space-owners are now “bending over backwards” to get a good client, and consequently, “a lot of hard options are now available for tenants,” says Mr Prakrut Mehta, National Director – Office and Industrial Agencies, Knight Frank India, a real estate consultancy firm. These hard options have, in fact, become a way of life, he adds. Innovative schemes Mr Shrinivas Rao, CEO – Asia Pacific, Vestian Workplace Services, says that most landlords are coming up with innovative propositions to attract tenants. According to him, from a security deposit structure of 10 months, landlords have reduced the deposit structure to even up to three (0-3) months. For already fitted-out spaces, they offer up to four months' rent-free period subject to longer lock-in tenure. Tenants are also being offered “tenant improvement allowance of up to two months' rent in addition to a rent-free period of three months for three to five year lock-in lease tenures”, he adds. Car park slots also come at no extra cost on the basis of one per 500 sq.ft. leased as against one per 750 sq.ft. (normally charged at Rs 2,000 a slot). The Outer Ring Road micro-market, which contains a strong pipeline of SEZ space, is emerging a focal area for companies evaluating long-term expansions and consolidation opportunities, says a recent CB Richard Ellis' ‘India Office Market View' report. Mr Mehta adds that there is a lot of demand for space from both MNCs — both tier-I and tier-II companies, and Indian corporates. Large Indian companies feel that it makes economic sense to buy space when the prices are down, he explains. ... |
