ISTANBUL | Agaoglu Residential Tower | 46 fl | Prep

Agaoglu Residential Tower
Istanbul, Turkey

Despite the worlds cash-flow problems the Turkish city of Istanbul appears to undergoing a flurry of activity with preparation work underway for another 45 storey tower despite the final design having yet been chosen.

Four proposals have been put forward to the project named the Agaoglu Residential Tower all penned by local architectural firm Camoglu.

The first tower has a cylindrical glazed central core with two petal shaped fins running up either side of the tower that appear to be constructed from white steel with rectangular horizontal windows.

Two cylindrical green wall sections also run up the sides of the tower starting from wider arched cover ways at the base of the tower and tapering away at the towers flat peak, a silver detailing crisscrosses up these.

The second proposal rises from a podium base in an arch form similar to a large gothic style window. at either side of the towers base two glazed arched canopies extend out from the tower.

The tower is fully glazed with strong vertical lines running up the front of the tower occasionally broken in places with large glazed sections. The sides of the tower have slight vertical banding but are mainly clear glazing allowing for the inner working of the tower to be viewed by the passing public. Topping the tower is a spire.

The third design is a simple box like tower set on a curving podium base complete with green roof for extra communal space for residents of the tower. Out o all of the proposals this is possibly the simplest in form, rising to two stepped flat peaks the taller of which appears to have a helipad topping it suggesting the towers may be for the more affluent end of the market.

The tower again has fully glazed facades which are accented with vertical coloured dashes dotted here and there while to one side white horizontal dashes of varying sizes run up the building giving it a modern arty look.

The fourth and final proposal sees an ovoid shaped tower with rectangular, overhanging sidewalls which frame the tower and run outwards at the base forming into finger like protrusions that dig into the grounds forming two canopies either side of the tower.

These side walls feature a green and silver geometric pattern running up it. The central section on the tower again has fully glazed facades allowing for maximum light filtration and views for residents.

According to the architects website construction on the tower is due to start this year providing the powers that be can make up their minds on which design they like pretty sharpish.

The plot still consists of four old apartment blocks. The one on the very left side is already empty and ready for demolition. The three others are still active.

Do you know if any more of those four blocks are ready for demolition?
