Hermanus gets new hotel



Investment opportunity offered in town famous for whales



Taking in the blue sweep of Walker Bay, the new Quarters Hermanus Hotel presents the latest in luxurious and stylish lodging as well as a prime investment opportunity on the Cape Whale Route.



The first property in the Cape for the prestigious boutique hotel group, Quarters Hermanus offers investors an opportunity to purchase apartments which then go into the hotel rental pool, allowing the owner to make use of the apartment for 30 days per annum with the remainder of the year being let to guests for return on investment.



Signature Life hotels, which operates the Quarters brand on behalf of the Mainguard family, will maintain the apartments on an on-going basis.



“It’s a great system which really works for the investor especially in hotels which maintain a good REVPAR as this one will undoubtedly have,” says Glyn Taylor of Signature Life hotels.



Three investment presentations will be held through October, at Guardian Peak Winery in Stellenbosch on October 7, Quarters Avondale Road in Durban on October 6 and Pretoria Country Club on October 8, all at 6pm.



Potential investors can also visit Quarters Hermanus which opens to the public on October 15th.



Designed in Cape contemporary coastal style – with large windows & stacked sliding doors – Quarters Hotel Hermanus is located adjacent the town’s new market square, over-looking the old harbour.



“While I’ve used clean, square-line furniture in dark brown mahogany wood along with stainless steel accents, there is a play on textures throughout, from stone to natural fabrics such as silk, velvets and linens in the bed-rooms,” says interior designer Carol Cornwall.



Built-in bedroom cabinets are finished in high gloss pearl grey while Caesar stone has been used throughout the open-plan bathrooms (the vanities resembling clean, thick slabs of floating stone) with light rustic-finish travertine to clad the feature walls.



The first floor contains a swimming pool while down-stairs, the windows of the hotel’s Harbour Square Kitchen & Bar present indoor-outdoor bistro-style dining in a relaxed, chic environment over-looking the azure sweep of Walker Bay.

Moving the quarters brand into a chain is going to give us the first truely luxury sa chain of city hotels. Similar to african pride i guess, but thats a mish mash chain in my mind as there is no over arching identity to its hotels

Quarters Hotel Hermanus to open in October

QUARTERS Hotels has announced the opening of the Quarters Hotel Hermanus in October, the group’s first property in the Western Cape.


The new 18-room hotel is situated on the Cape Whale Route and overlooks Walker Bay and the old harbour. Room features include satellite television, tea- and coffee-making facilities, air-conditioning, direct-dial telephones, safes, separate bath and showers. Some of the rooms also have private patios.

Facilities at the property include a first-floor swimming pool and bistro-style Harbour House Kitchen and Bar.
