The decorative screen on top will make it the same height as RoCP. Approval is this month so construction July/August?

The meeting was last night for this proposal. The Planning Dept. recommended approval. I presume it WAS approved, along with L Tower?

I'm constantly trying to scope out a suitable office tower along Bay that I can get to the top of, and take a picture either up or down the Bay Canyon. It will be pretty impressive once Lumiere/ Burrito/ Murano, etc... are all up. There is a drab brown building on Bay at around Wellesley, that would have a PERFECT view south. Some sort of Desjardins building, or something along that line.

It's arguably the best 'canyon' street in the country. I just wish I had more reason to hang out on it. It will steadily get more lively at street level.

Perhaps, you could befriend one of the site managers at Murano to take you up their elevator? Lie and tell them you are from Britain doing a photo documentation of Toronto for your school. The worst they can say is no, and you'd be surprised how much you can get if you just ask in the right way.

Trouble is, Murano is in the centre. I want a telephoto shot cramming them all in!! One of these days I will stop at that ugly office building on Bay at Wellesley and see if I can write for permission to take a photo from the top floor, looking south. I could get some nifty photos from the rooftop track at the Y, but they built this monolithic wall that you cant see over.

I've seen some pretty nice photos from the centre line of Bay Street looking south from around Charles Street. I'd imagine they'd be even better from the top of a cube van parked in the same location

Maybe I should be like Bjork in that video where she sings through the streets of a city on a flatbed truck!!
In any case, I am determined to get a photo, so where there is a will there is a way...

I am the world's worst liar, and there is a huge pulsing neon arrow pointing down at my bright red face whenever I try something like that!!
But I will think of a way. I usually do...

So, you want one from where this was taken, but higher up?

For the enlarged photo use the link below:

What if you found a spot further up Bay Street? Have you considered a shot in the opposite direction? Facing north, you get a towering effect on top of what you would normally, because you are looking up hill. You may be able to use that to your advantage if that is the type of imagery you are trying to get across.

That would be nice from higher up! But further toward Bloor would be even better. But it would have to be high up to capture it all.

I do not think that they will be able to save the columns.

They are going to dismantle and save the facade.

That was sheer brilliance to capture those scenes before it comes down, current. You went well above and beyond the call of duty!

What a gorgeous old building! Tyndall limestone?

I love the old floors!

I am so glad that a big effort is being made to save it. It will add alot of character to the finished condo building. Great project.

Hats off to you current.

I didn't realize they were going to save the old building! That is a welcome bit of news.

Rendering from their website looks like the facade of the old building is incorporated into the new podium.

I'm liking the Burrito a lot more now that I know they are saving the old car dealership building. Bay Street is just humming right along.... when you drive down it, increasingly it is like driving in Manhattan.
