Sri Lankan PM finally cancels (at least) some of the A350s ordered by Sri Lankan.

http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSL3N17T2HM

Which is dashed awkward as 2 of their a350s are through the main assembly already and the main parts have arrived for the third.

Sri Lankan were procuring a mix of direct purchases and leases and I think the three already in production are a mix of same.

I suspect the Skymark a380s will shortly have three new neighbours.

As the PM said:
"We have ordered the SriLankan Airlines not to go ahead with the deal of the four Airbuses which have not started manufacture,"

So in my opinion it means that those three you mentioned will be finished and delivered to the airline and 4 remaining ones on order will be canceled.

Sri Lankan has 7 on order, 4 are direct orders, 3 are via Aercap. The 1st 3 that are already in production are the ones that come via Aercap, they will most likely be delivered.

It has also been reported that Sri Lankan is looking at subleasing these 3 to other airlines. Turkish Airlines has been named in those articles, but like all previous rumors for similar deals (747-8, 787, A380) with TK.... It's just not likely that this will happen. But maybe there are other airlines who are interested. But it will be difficult since it's such a new type with only a few users for now. It's not as easy to add to your fleet as for example an A330.

I've always been wondering why the delivery of A350 happens so slowly

And can anyone here post any image of Vietnam Airlines' 5th A359 (reg VN-A890). I'm super excited about the aircraft, since there's so little info about that

All China Airlines a350 will feature a special livery. Each with a different bird. This is the rendering of the first one. Source: FocusTaiwan

I'm not a big fan of China Airlines livery but it might look great on the a350, the nose strip might look fantastic on the a350's nose. I like the regular livery better than this special livery but unfortunately I won't see any of their a350 with a regular livery (until they decide the repaint the aircraft which might only happen in many years from now)

Yes but while Airbus have pulled around 56 Tubes with wheels through their hangars only 26 of those are now finished and with customers ( incl prototypes) and the other 30... 2 Full Years Of Production at 2015 rates .....are at various stages of test/finish in Toulouse somewhere.

Furthermore they are coming off that line faster than they are flying out to customers. The backlog could reach 40 in the summer. They only flew out 5 this year but rolled out at least 20 from the FAL hanger.

Leaving out the early 'teens' there is no way Boeing has 30 frames of 787s beyond the FAL stage and wandering around their 2 factories getting various finishing touches. I'd say it would be less than 20 across the two factories.

We know that Airbus are not entirely to blame, the toilet and kitchen and seat makers have been pure crap on the A350 programme and account for 80% plus of this delivery overhang between them.

But it will get worse before it gets better, some time in future.

Thanks, I've been looking in this list every single day, but still you know, the info doesn't seem to satisfy me. So far there's only a short clip on its ground testing, and I'm craving for more

why the A350 building progress is too slow.B787 delivery is much faster.Boeing can build 1 B787 only in 4 days and delivery after only 2 test flights. But with A350,for example the first A350 for Qatar took 14 test flights. From 2015 Vietnam Airlines received 7 B787s and only 4 A350s.And VNA seem prefer B787 more than A350.The VN-A890 at Parking stand now and i don't know when Vietnam airlines can receive it

Production ramp up of the A350 is actually faster than the 787 was.

I check the production list everyday and it seems that 2 weeks have gone by and our VN-A890 is still being tested ON THE GROUND
