Airbus to further expand the A350 XWB’s Catalogue offering for Premium Economy Seating

• Offering even more interior choices for A350 XWB operators
• EADS Sogerma to introduce a new seat model into the A350 XWB catalogue
• Joining Zodiac in enriching the A350 XWB’s Premium Economy Seating offer
9 APRIL 2013 PRESS RELEASE
Aircraft Interiors Expo 2013, Hamburg – Airbus plans to further enrich its Premium Economy Seating offering available in the A350 XWB Catalogue*, working in partnership with EADS Sogerma. This will result in even more choice for future operators of the all-new A350 XWB family of airliners.
To this end EADS-Sogerma, an existing Airbus Contracted Supplier, is optimising its new ‘Celeste’ seat for the A350 XWB’s wide fuselage. Celeste is an innovative cradle seat which provides premium economy passengers with a high level of comfort at an efficient pitch. Privacy options enhance the passenger experience.
Earlier this year Airbus also agreed with Zodiac Seats (formerly Weber Aircraft Seats) to add its A350 XWB tailored ‘5810’ Premium Economy seat to the aircraft’s Catalogue. This seat offers optimised living space and ergonomics, low weight and comprehensive IFE capability.
Airbus is the world’s leading aircraft manufacturer of passenger airliners, ranging in capacity from 100 to more than 500 seats. Airbus has design and manufacturing facilities in France, Germany, the UK, and Spain, and subsidiaries in the US, China, Japan and in the Middle East. In addition, it provides an international network of customer support and training centres. Airbus is an EADS company.

wow, business class in A350 looks much nicer than in A380. those cube-like boxes in A380 maybe are luxurious and comfortable, but appereance is awful.

Reading through the latest developments for the A350, I can truly say that I can see myself riding that aircraft, especially with the Premium Economy cabin, because it looks ergonomic, classy, and relaxing, not to mention that it is much cheaper than buying a Business Class ticket! On top of that, I love the Business Class cabin design: it may be in a staggered layout, but I can see that it has full access to the cabin while there is ample space for privacy for each passenger. I then wonder: could this be done on an A380, or is it going to be introduced first on the A350, to be progressively introduced on the later versions of the A380 (and A330 NG, if it will ever be produced)?

This picture is just an Airbus picture to promote the A350, the carriers are free to choose how they want their cabins. Plus, I think this business class is already a bit outdated (no full flat bed).
The premium seat is a product among dozens for this type of class, just because it's an airbus product doesn't mean you're gonna see it in the a350.
And for your question, this layout already exists. A few examples EK (A380, 777), CX (A330, 777), QR (at least 787), LX (progressively changed) or AA (777-300ER)...

The Business seat is by EADS Sogerma, which is linked to Airbus, so it helps customers visualize what their current products might look like. Anyway, with a wider cabin, the seat is actually wider than what one might see on an Airbus A330 or A380.

I really do like the Premium Economy seat. It's a pretty good seat, and I can easily see QF or AF going for a seat like that.

It just makes a difference with the a330 and 787.
The A380 main deck is 30cm wider than the A350.

IAG has confirmed that they will be ordering the A350-1000.

http://www.iagshares.com/phoenix.zht...195&highlight=

18 orders, plus 18 options.

The order is not fully firm yet since it's subject to approval by IAG shareholders.

That is great news for Airbus and Rolls Royce; from an airline (BA at least) that loves its triple sevens!

Airframes are usually getting heavier during the development fase. Problems will occur once you start developing the parts and addressing those issues will usually result in a weight increase. For example, the A380 wing load test failed at 145% and strengthen the wing added more weight.

MSN001 will be around 3 tonnes overweight but MSN017 should already meet the target weight. In contrast, the first 787 was almost 10 tonnes overweight and all 787's currently coming of the assembly line are still dealing with overweight.

I tend to agree. The actual plane doesn't really look a lot like the render. Nice looking bird still. But not as good as the render that's for sure.
