Speaking of which, has Airbus announced anything about the construction of the first A350XWB-900 airframe for commercial service with Qatar Airways? Or is one of the test planes now flying going to become the first plane for the airline that will be delivered later this year?

Is it me who doesn't pay enough attention or is this program a bit underestimated by mass media in comparison to others? Checking on Wikipedia, I just realized that in the year 2013 alone, the A350 recorded 239 new net orders, reaching 812 total orders for the aircraft.

A350 net orders by year:
  • 2006: +20
  • 2007: +292
  • 2008: +163
  • 2009: +51
  • 2010: +78
  • 2011: -31
  • 2012: +27
  • 2013: +230
TOTAL: 812

The bird is actually very fast-selling, considering the XWB redesign was only announced on september 2007.

The 1st one for Qatar is not one of the 5 prototypes. It\s the MSN006 that has entered the FAL in December 2013, it's expected that it will stay there for another 2 months before it's official roll-out.

When will the final certification of the A350XWB be complete? Must be soon?

You are correct. But that is because previous lunches of A380 and Dreamliner have recieved exceptional coverage.

Is there any chance that Qatar will do a special livery on their first A350 for being the Launch customer of the 350?

I couldn't help but notice the fact that the behind part of the engine of the 350 extends during landing... is it to reverse the trust of the engines? Could someone give me a lead to more information?

This image explains it pretty well :

Other systems for thrust reversal are explained on Wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrust_reversal
