HOOFDDORP - Now & Then

Welcome to this thread

I will show you pictures of the city where I currently live, Hoofddorp. It's a small (73.000 inhabitants) city in the western part of the Netherlands, just beneath Amsterdam and next to Schiphol (airport). Hoofddorp is different than other cities, it doesn't realy have an old city center and not much old buildings, since it's a young city (1853). You could compare it to Almere, altough Almere was founded in 1976. Some call it a New Town.

Hoofddorp isn't very loved by other Dutch people. It's ok to live there but that's all, some say. Not much crime, good bus and train connections with Amsterdam, Haarlem and other parts of the country and province and a big city center with lots of shops and facilities. Hoofddorp is located in one of the fastest growing municipality's of the Netherlands, Haarlemmermeer. Hoofddorp is expected to have 94.000 inhabitants in 2025.

heh I used to work in Hoofddorp when I lived in NL and some friends live there now.

It's rather... quiet... probably nice enough to live there if you like a peaceful life

Thanks for the photos of a more unusual place. Can somebody do Amstelveen next?

^It's a great place to live yes Quiet outside the city center and other shopping centers and quite nice living areas. Not much crime and just a nice ambiance. Many people still don't like it though due to the lack of old buildings. Anyway, it's a green city with soon u/c the first Full Service Cradle to Cradle park in the Netherlands and the first Green Office of TNT in the Netherlands/world is already u/c. Actually a very enviromental positive city
