Those pictures remind me of my time there. I also visited Dorasan. There was a platform sign there that showed the next station as Pyongyang.

The picture of the train and scarecrows is awesome. I've never seen the KTX go through snow like the video you posted. That's pretty cool although the snow goes everywhere inside the station.

Pyongyang would be the terminus. Kaesong would be the first station the other side of the border.

Probably. I lived in Jeonju for two years and went to 487 stations including some that were not in service or abandoned. If there was a platform then that counted as a visit. I didn't count it if the train stopped but I didn't get out. Several times I rode a long ways, but jumped out at every stop and took a picture of the sign and ran back in. Most of the conductors thought it was odd that a foreigner wanted to do that and didn't care. Korea train riding was good times.

KTX-II will begin its operation on March 2

First homegrown high-speed train put on the track

Korea's first homegrown bullet train, KTX-II, is now on the track, offering what its operator said were safer and more convenient services.

Korail, the state-run railway operator, yesterday offered a test ride of KTX-II, the first bullet train produced and developed with local technology, two weeks before it starts commercial operation of the train next month.

The new train will begin its operation on the lines connecting Seoul and Busan and Seoul and Gwangju on March 2.

The KTX-II will be deployed on Jeolla line and Gyeongjeon line as well after studying traffic demand, Korail said. Tickets for the new train will be sold from Feb. 23, but has not set the price of tickets for the new train.

Passengers can enjoy wireless internet services and watch digital multimedia broadcasts. The quadruple-glazed window installed on the new train reduces noise and stress during the travel hours. It also has snack bars, business rooms with small tables and spacious toilets for the disabled.

Saemaul class train's design speed is 150km/h. Most of Saemaul class train will be gradually replaced, starting 2011, by Viztro class train (EMU, design speed : 180km/h).
