well, i think the crown is ok, when it's lit up at night it will look pretty cool. and yeah: i still wonder what the final height is...

Lighting isn't going to save that crown. I said once earlier it looks like a "mohawk" and still think so. The rest of the building is great. But they screwed up on the top.

It isn't brown, but rather a beige/off white color that references the same shade as the Empire State Building's Indiana limestone exterior. The strong vertical lines also harmonize with the ESB, which will compliment the ESB and not try to compete with.

Have you seen the building in person?

I must agree, this building does harmonize with ESB, and the plating pattern of the crown reminds one of the Chrysler crown, on a modest level, this building works for this area, IMO..!

Agree - The Setai is okay there. The crowne looks a bit discreet, but has enough classical style. But that's not my main point:

I just recognized that CTBUH lists this tower at only 192.58 meters, thus not in the SSC skyscraper range! Could be true: from some pics of the last months, I'd guessed The Setai not taller than 195m, comparing with Mercantile Building and 425 Fifth Avenue, both 189 meters, for instance here (2009/Nov/25 by jwalas). Downgrade to "highrise"? I think so...

lol, i know that height, i think SSP has it listed since last summer or so. nevertheless this is not the full height, 192.5m is only measured to the heighest occupied floor. i'm still missing an official release of the full height (including roof and crown) - i'm pretty sure it exceeds 200m. of course we have to wait if the crown will be added to the final height.

You know, it took me till now to even LIKE this building but, having had time to think on it and let it haunt me... it's INCREDIBLE.

It has a wonderful retro vibe and is undeniably unique.

Few buildings stick on my mind like this one has, especially after I hated the building the first time I saw it.
