BOSTON - Downtown Domination

I spent 6 hours wandering around on a scorching day last week, walked away with well over 300 pics, and here's the best of them

In no particular order...

Awesome shots, I love Boston - a very attractive city. I especially like the older buildings, possibly more than the ordinary modern skyscrapers. Thanks for showing.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I have an identical thread on another site and posted a few more pictures, so I figured I'd post them here too

More than wandering around Boston it seems that you were FLYING around Boston. There are no street-level pictures.

i never realized the density Boston has (in its CBD), but i guess in all the skyline shots ive seen, the trees blocked all the low-rises.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing... Are there any pics you took of street life in Boston?

This thread was more to highlight Boston's skyline and dense downtown core, which I believe tend to be underrated by people who have never actually been here. For example, if you combined Boston's skyline with Vancouver's, then the 2 tallest, 11 of the top 12, and 18 of the tallest 21 buildings would all originate in Boston, yet it doesn't get nearly the play that Vancouver does. I'm trying to change the perception of Boston's buildings and downtown itself. Its reputation as a great walking/historic city is already well intact

I do work in the city and live only 5 miles from the downtown core, so one of these days I may do more of a street level thread on it. However, this happens to be a skyscraper site, and skyscrapers are both a major passion of mine and the reason I finally signed up here (after lurking for nearly a decade), so please forgive me if they happen to also be the focus of my early posts!

I think the reason Vancouver's skyline is highlighted so often is because of the mountains behind it. People like nature. It's definitely not the tall buildings doing it because it's a pretty short skyline overall.

Anyways thanks for the great photos! I've been to Boston many times and I have to admit that the skyline was much smaller than I was expecting. As a kid growing up, I thought Boston would be this enormous city. I pictured it being about the size of Chicago or Toronto. I think having so many successful sports teams in Boston can make an 8 year old think that! How else can they always win!?

Boston is definitely one of the most beautiful and livable cities in the US. My wife hates it because she is from New York but I always tell her that she just has a blind rivalry and bias. I know the truth about this great city!
