Yup- even though the tower is nothing special, the podium is outstanding!!! Where is this going to be located?

College and Bay. And the podium includes a reconstruction/re-assembly of the heritage, former 'Addison on Bay' car-dealership building.

I love the tower. Like that it is build next to the water.

The model is a little deceiving; Burano is no where near water.

unless they have a small reflecting pond planned beside it.

I suppose they could flood Bay Street to get that effect.

If we did that at least Bay St.'s name would be a bit more accurate.

hehe! I was thinking on the side, not the front! I ride my bike down Bay every day and don't feel like lifting my feet up in the air as I sail through a pool!

what I do notice is that most of these latest additions are all covered with pretty much the same color and kind of glass and so transparant. Although and admitedly too, it is a beautiful building and I like it very much so, but then again, won't Toronto have too much of the same sometime in the future if all these high rises are constructed and once finished?

It's a concern, but it really hinges on where these glass towers are being built. The water front has far too much glass already and would benefit tremendously with more variation of style and materials. Most other parts of the city, however, would benefit from a few glass towers. The section of Bay where Burano is being built being one such area.

What this end of Bay needs more than anything else are more variation in building type, design, and usage. It needs better architecture, and better treatment at street level. That said, Burano is better than most of the other buildings in this area. Time will tell if Bay can turn into a more successful street than it is now.

thank you for your answer and explanation Isaido. Now I get the picture and can't find any reason as why not to totally agree with you. So, the city planners are very well busy and it is all designed and thought thorougly. It is a beautiful bldg. Again, sad that I am not that rich to buy one of those penthouses. I ll be happy to live in the sweaping room/closet as long as It offers me a view from atop though :-)

Nice building, fit's well with the rest of the city, but the podium is the best part of course.
