There are several freight companies that cover almost all the country, but the tracks are very damaged:

* Trenes Argentinos Cargas y Logística (State-owned):

** Belgrano railway

** San Martin railway

** Urquiza railway

* Nuevo Central Argentino (Private):

** Mitre railway

* Forrosur Roca (Private):

** Roca railway

* Ferroexpreso Pampeano (Private):

** Sarmiento and Roca railways

---------

There are plans to renovate the Buenos Aires-Posadas and Capilla-Pergamino tracks. The track between Lezama and Mar del Plata is suspended because a flood destroyed a bridge and is under reconstruction. The track between Chivilcoy and Bragado was also destroyed by a flood.

The coaches seem to be new or well refurbished, but still look a bit retro. Where they come from? Looks like China, but might be some other place.

Yes, all are chinese . The National company Ferrocarriles Argentinos bought 22 formations (locomotive + 12 coachs) in 2008.

I dunno why... Chinese HSR trains are top of the line, but regular coaches still have the 1960s feel, at least when it comes to design.

Yes, but the quality is poor and can't built trains fast enough.

There are various industries.

Materfer, with constant breakdowns

Tencotren, a piece of sh*t with a Fiat Duna engine
