Downtown as seen from Franklinton

I thought it would be a nice day walk the trail along the Scioto River in Franklinton.

Looking towards the Arena District.

I think it is interesting that in American cities buildings don't have much details. Buildings are really simple. In Europe you can find much more details on buildings.

True. But to be fair, Columbus and most big cities are less than 200 years old. Columbus wont be 200 until 2012. Plus, modern was all the rage from about 1950 on, so most of the more detailed building were leveled in favor of the clean, simple lines of modern office buildings.

And I have to add that I think American buildings which aren't modernist style are really good looking. I don't know why but I think that best architecture in USA, you can find in Cold Area cities. Los Angeles, Houston etc. are really boring architecturally.

I agree 100% I'll never leave the midwest. Unless it's Canada of course! Sadly, we had more at one time. But urban renewal, freeways, and poor planning destroyed a lot of our older building stock in downtown. My street (East Town) is one of the few mostly intact residential streets in downtown. If you go a block south, it's mostly parking lots and random commercial structures. But thankfully that is changing. The area around the Scioto miles is really improving and so is the area around Gay Street! The future looks bright in downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods!

Nice captures, everything looks so clean and nicely arranged. Something new for my eyes. But I haven't been to the states so far ^_^
