The 1873 Roosevelt building in Soho NYC is considered art nouveau

That's definitely no Art Nouveau building.

firstly, it's too old; secondly, the ornamentation is Neoclassical or Neo-Renaissance

It's not, but i can definitely see how it's a big influence on the style. The ornamentation is typical for the time but the use of iron and glass is very modern.

Milano, Italia

Liberty stile (the local Italian version of Art Nouveau) in Milan, Italy. The pictures are from google streetview as I didn't really find any suitable pictures elsewhere.

New York City, U.S.A.

The 1904 little Singer building in New York is considered to be Art Nouveau. It was designed by the french-schooled architect Ernest Flagg, who was also later responsible for the now demolished Singer building.

These buildings are so beautiful. I always wonder how many nice buildings in Italy (in Milan, Genoa for example) with no good photos or any information about them.

Wonderful Staircase, harks back to a time where public infrastructure actually had a design and visual amenity in the original plans.

I would take that anyday over the 'cost effective' and comparably drab alternatives of Urban Infrastructure in the 21st Century.

I totally agree.
In the surroundings of that staircase I have posted above there are some other "modern" examples of staircases, mainly built or modernized from the 1950s to the 2000s. Most of them just without any design

I agree.

Here are some more examples of Milans Art Noeveau architecture. Pictures are again taken from streetview.

The same building as above up close:

Very nice buildings in Milano
The city seems to have one thing in common with Vienna: The many wires in the streets (I guess also for illumination and trams..?).

Vienna, Loos-Haus, 1909, Architect: Adolf Loos.
This building is located directly in the city centre, surrounded by buildings rich on details and classical ornaments. It is outstanding for its pure and simple design:
