St Petersburg is gorgeous, shame its not in the spotlight like other European cities are.

Well, I think that everybody who is interested in architecture, knows that St. Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

A beautiful example of Jugendstil

Hi, This is my first post at this forum. I'm glad to be joining. I study architecture and this style is very interesting to me. In my town here in Serbia there's an old villa that belonged to a wealthy business man who lived back in those times. It was build in 1898, so that's 115 years old! It's really decayed, but is still very very beautiful... The architect is Imre Steindl

The pics are actually from Indiegogo fundraiser I started, so if you wish to help restore it contact me please I would be very grateful

I think it is on the spotlight among people who appreciate and are interested in architecture. Don`t you agree, "musiccity" ?

Even though the villa is very interesting, I have doubts that it was built in the Art Nouveau style.

Actually it isn't just Jugendstil, but it has some elements from it. As you can probably see it's eclectic, so a mix of lot's of styles.

Not sure though whether is art nouveau or eclectic or both.

I don't know. It faces Pátio do Colégio (this colonial building) in the very place where São Paulo started as Jesuit mission back in the 1550's. Looking closer at the GSV, today the building apparently is home of a civil court branch.

Art Nouveau in Poland, "House under the Firs"

And do you know the "House under the Firs", a unique Polish highlander version of Art Nouveau combined with traditional wooden architecture?

I would post a picture but as a new member I'm not allowed to yet so check it in google

in Polish it's "Dom pod Jedlami", it'll be easier to search with that keywords

Eliseevsky store in Moscow, Tverskaya str., 14, architects M. Kazakov (facade - 18 century), G. Baranovskiy (Art Nouveau interior - 1901.)

http://travellingalone.net/wp-conten...oscowThree.jpg

The famous grocery store "Eliseevsky", opened a long time ago in 1901, is considered to be the first one in Moscow till now. Named in honour of its former owner and millionaire, Grigory Eliseev, the store became famous not only for its big variety of products, but for luxurious decoration of sales areas in Art Nouveau taste. Huge crystal chandeliers, reminding of bunches of grapes, decorate high archs of the sales area.

At the end of 18 century Secretary of State of Ekaterina the Great invited the architector Matvey Kazakov to build a Palace for his beautiful wife, Kozitzkaya.
