The building stands out against the background of the classical architecture of the Nevsky prospect with its stained glass, sculptures and luxury decoration. Style of the building was designed to show the richness of the partnership and attract the attention of potential buyers. Stained-glass Windows on the Neva side of the building, covering several floors, creates an impression of one giant showcase. On the facade sculptures of A. Adamson «Industry», «Trade», «Art» and «Science». On the first floor of the building housed a trading hall of shop, on the second floor - a popular Comedy theatre.

Here's what I got when I searched "Art Nouveau in Boston" on Flickr.

Hopefully the people who are more knowledgeable about architecture can give a more concrete answer as to whether these buildings are actually in the Art Nouveau style.

This is not Art Nouveau, is Romanesque and Richardsonian style.

You're referring to the third building, yes?

I looked it up on Emporis, which also calls it "Romanesque Revival".

But the first two buildings aren't Romanesque, are they?

The Second one is DEFFINANTLY Not anything like Chicago school (Sullivanesque), and has more Romanesque traits.

Hotel "Metropol", Moscow, Teatralnaya square, architects W. Walcott, L. Kekushev, A. Erichson, 1899-1904.

“Metropol” is called “an encyclopedia of Russian art Nouveau”. Plastic facades with plenty of the ledges and diverse forms and window openings emphasizes fancy a game of light and shade. This impression is reinforced by the contrast of textures and colors of the materials used. The predominant position on the facade takes a huge ceramic panel “Princess of Dreams”, performed by a drawing by M. Vrubel.

Other panels - “Thirst”, “the Worship of deity”, “nature Worship”, “Orpheus plays”, “Life”, “Noon” and “Worship of the old days” - work of the artist A. Golovin. Along the whole building there is a multi-relief “The Seasons”, created by sculptor N. Andreev.

The interior of the hotel is well preserved. It is decorated with numerous works of art, paintings, sculptures, antique furniture. Among the hotel facilities, highlights the great hall of one of their restaurants. Majestic restaurant area is located under the glass roof, decorated with stained glass.

Moscow "rational" art Nouveau, one of the directions of the art Nouveau style of the turn of the 19th-20th centuries - a precursor to the constructivism of the 20-ies and the whole world architecture of the 20th century. Innovation Moscow architects of that era outstripped time. Minimum decor, while not devoid of refinement and elegance, maximise the opportunities of new building technologies, materials and structures, i.e. as if saying - "naked truth".

House of Moscow merchant society, Novaya square, architect F. Shekhtel, 1909.
