Sweden, and Gothenburg in particular, has almost deleted it's history with ArtNo/Jug. in favor of Modernism, mostly because of Godwin's Law, but here's some sparkling colour in the grey, anonymous mass.

Even though The Netherlands is not particularly known for its Jugendstil offerings, it has a lot more than this topic gives it credit for. I've been eyeing (rather: drooling over) this thread for a long time, now it's time to give something back!

Let's start with het "Witte Huis" in Rotterdam. One of the first skyscrapers in Europe, it was finished in 1898 and fortunately survived the German bombardment in 1940 that levelled almost the entire neighbourhood:

It's hard to find "shareable" pics on flickr that show the Art Nouveau detailings, I hope this gives you an idea:

More to come!
(of other buildings in The Netherlands, I think you've seen enough of this one)

Art-Nouveau is simply sublime, an epitome of elegance.

thats very interesting, would you be able to explain how the Nazis and Hitler influenced Sweden in later histroy to destroy so much Art Nouveau?

I can't speak for Sweden, but had the same here in Norway with large project trying to remove German influence in our architecture and make our cities appear more Norwegian (in practice this meant concrete and modernism for the win). This was done because Germans and everything influenced by them was consider to be something belonging in a dark past, and leftover after the evil occupiers (Norways was occupied by the Nazis during the war).

Two examples of this "Norwegiansation":

And here are some more Oslo Art Nouveau buildings. All pictures are taken by myself.

Though i don't really like jugendstil i must admit this is a real beauty! This looks like a must see attraction in Kiev.
