Would be nice, the tower as well as the additional green space. Seems like Mori is building a lot in the recent years in this area.

It's a nice tower, but somehow the area finally needs 2 or 3 skyscrapers with more spectacular designs such as they are found in Shinjuku.

That won't happen, all the current buildings going up are boxes boxes boxes. But let's be honest, this is where the serious money is made. There's no need to be flashy, efficiency is much more important here.

38 floors is very few for 200 meters height.

New helicopter update of the tower and the Tokyo Station renovation.

building-pc.cocolog-nifty.com/helicopter/

Initially the construction started in June 2009, but that has officially been changed to November 2009. There hasn't been much visible construction progress anyway the last month, the only thing we could see was the partial demolition of the old post office. But now they have changed the constrution start in retrospect we should see some more work on the tower soon, even if it was just more ground works for the 4 underground floors.

Yes I confirm! They started the ground works. For now, what I saw from street level is: They have stated digging, drilling machines and equipement are stored on the site. I also saw that they work the ground on street side, alond the old post office facade.

Night view of the site (sorry it's a bad picture... only to give an idea)
They also work the night.

Sorry I don't have any other details, next time I'll pass there,I'll look for a construction schedule.

Thanks guys for the photos. I see this site from the train all the time and was wondering what was going on there. Glad to see some progress at last

The old building wasn't exactly that beauty, but was a landmark of that area. Now they will build another boring average glass box, making it hard to be recognizable. For a foreigner in Tokyo, is hard to locate himself looking at the landmarks, because few ones are imediately recognizable.

I thought that old lowrise building was going to be incorporated in to the design of the new JP Tower. But they tear it down instead, so they may be redesigning the new tower so that the facade can't even be reconstructed.

That is a really importat point you have. But a slightly different design would't hurt.

Finally a new update for this tower, although it's not above street level yet there's at least some clear progress.

This building's design looks as if it's a great addition to that area, those glass 200 meter twins being there as well. This is supposed to be Japan's financial center after all, but the area doesn't really show it. I hope someday they will build something there that is at least as impressive as City Hall. The area kind of needs it.

Nice tower. It reminds me a little of the bank building constructed a few years ago in Miami.
