I love the vibrancy and contemporary touch of Sao Paulo. I haven't been there yet but have a feeling that I would absolutely love this city.

If you like human diversity, style and culture, São Paulo is definitely the best place in Latin America for walk down the streets. The city is absolutely multicultural and have many communities that arrived here since early last century (italians, japaneses, germans, jews, nigerians, bolivians, peruvians, armenians, greeks, coreans, chineses, lebaneses, syrians, portugueses, spanish, south american indians and others. I am sure that São Paulo with 20 million people (metropolitan area) is compared just to London and NY about human diversity.

Yes, this is what I was assuming. I know someone who is from Sao Paulo here in London and I would probably not miss a chance to visit this fascinating city some time.
Only thing that concerns me is safety... I have been to some cities in Asia (Bangkok, KL, Hong Kong, Singapore) and to my understanding those are perfectly safe for foreign tourists which easily pass my own invented "3 stage test": walking alone drunk (1) in unfamiliar location (2) after midnight (3) . I wonder how Sao Paulo would do in such a situation for me? This is, of course, knowing that I love to explore the city on foot with camera in my hands. Seeing those photos really, I mean really, make me want to go there.
